Lettering pen?
Lettering pen?
Does anyone know where I can get a white tire lettering marker or pen. I want to make my BFGoodwrinch Radial t/a white agian. They are getting a little black. Also do these work good and are they easy to use?
Duplicolor makes something called "Hot Tires". It's a pen type paint thingie and you can get it at Autozone...BUT...I used it to do the letters on my bike and it lasted about 20 miles. After the first drive they had already turned a very nasty white color. The paint also becomes brittle and starts to flake away on the first drive as well. Yes, my tires were extremely clean in the area before I started. I also tried a regular bottle of automotive white tough up paint. That actually had the exact same results. I'd like to find another option if anyone knows anything better???
Westley's Blech White
I've used Westley's Blech White on the white lettering of my tires, and white walls from an older car that I have. Follow the directions and do wear rubber gloves and possibly a respirator, unless you are outside doing it. I poured some out in a small cup and dipped a tooth brush and cloth in it. Works really well.
Westley's has 0.17, or is it 0.017, percent hydrofluoric acid in it. While its not enough to do a whole lot of damage, prolonged exposure can hurt you. Hence the rubber gloves.
I've been out of the detailing world for a while and just getting back in the swing of owning vehicles to be proud of, so there may be something better than westley's but its great stuff.

Try some sand paper, the wet sanding kind. Just be sure to keep it on the letters as it will scratch up the side walls.

I have the same tires and they are pretty old, still white for me though.
Try this
Spray Whestleys Tire Bleach onto them, watch out for the rims.
Take a VERY thick and tough (i used a rub brush that uses a light metal bristles)
Rub away at the letters with the bleach still on the tires.
It should take away almost all of the dirt making them not white, now mine are back to brilliant white
