Turtle wax platinum tire gel (review/pics)

Noticed the stuff at wal-hell a few nights ago and figured I would try it out.

Turtle wax says...

Platinum Series®
High Shine Tire Gel

Clear, high shine gel provides the ultimate, deep black, wet-look shine.

Formulated with high viscosity fluids and resins to eliminate sling onto body panels.

Custom ribbed applicator conforms to the sidewall of the tire which allows for better control and coverage than traditional spray products.

No messy overspray or driveway spots.

Contains silicone gum resins for the greatest durability possible in a tire dressing.

Easy to use - apply product to applicator and spread onto tire.

04 RED LARIAT says...

As far as greasy tire dressings go this one is right up there with them. The raised white letters on my truck tires was a killer to get the product in and around. And still had some runs after I went over the tires several times.

I had the product all over my hands from the stupid applicator after I was finished and ended up dropping the applicator half way through and had to wash and dry it so I could finish up.

I think I will just be using the rest of what I have left on my car which does not have raised white letters and see how it works out.

Yeah I had about the same results with a similar tire gel by Black Magic. It was just too messy to apply and then container leaked which forced me to just pitch it. I've since returned to sprays. Hopefully something new will come out that will really be good.

I've had the same experience with both those products. Problem is......it's
tougher than s&^t to get off the tire.

The shine looks pretty good. I hate Black Magic, man is it a pain to work with. I've had pretty good luck with the Insane Tire Shine by Meguiar's. I guess I'll stick with that till someone has a better product.

Well after driving the truck today (which it rained while I was out) this crapola tire junk has flung all over the truck. I had to re wash when I got back home just to get the tire gel sling off of the body.

Now I have dark spots on the door trim just above the tan/white paint line that I can not get off. I tried several things along with a paint cleaner. I wonder if the mr. clean eraser would bring it off?

This door trim has a soft rubber feel to it, but it is white like the truck.

Careful with the MRCME bud... lots of problems reported when addressing trim with it...

Tried any APC? I have a gallon of Citri-Gel sitting here that's screaming your name.

No I did not try APC. I think I was going to get that Citra-Gel off of you last time we tried the meet. Bring it with you on the 14th.
