Got keyed... then ran into...
So I walked out of the wal-mart to find a long key mark clear down my passenger side.... Black truck, big white scratch down the side.... won't buff out, tried it
. Then that evening my buddy in his mid-80s Ford pulls in to close and catches his metal mirror frame on the driver's side of my bed... Dented in, and two big wide white scratches about a foot long down the side of my bed, along with deep scratches in the fender flare
... Next summer before I go to college I'll file an insurance claim... so it can happen again...

Aw Man.... That Sucks...
You could try some Scratch X. and maybe try and push to dent out, hopefully the scratches aren't to deep.
That is Bad Luck......
Hopefully Not.....

That definately Sucks. If the scratch-x doesn't work out for ya', try going to ford, and getting a paint repair touch-up pen. It now comes with a ballpoint pen AND a brush, so you can use the brush for larger areas, and the pen for smaller areas. I used it on mine, and it looks great. I know some have even gone the length to say that they can't remember/find the repaired places. I've also heard that on black, repairs go smoother, since it's an easier color to match.
Definately worth a try. Only around $10 or $15. Lots cheaper than a paintjob.

I think the touch up pens are even cheaper at Pep-Boys, I was looking at them 2 days ago. I think they were like $7.99, I may be wrong though.
They seemed to have alot of Ford colors, maybe worth a look.

Yeah. I saw them after I noguht mine. But I didn't know my paint code at that time, or how to find it...then I joined this forum. Now it's as easy as looking on the doorjamb, or simply asking the guy at the maintenance desk at FMC as I pull out my wallet to purchase a paint pen...
Definately try it out. I'd either use the toowthpick method or the ballpoint pen attachment (that comes with it). Unless you're filling in a large chip, I'd stay away from the brush part. You should have pretty good luck with yours, as there's no flake to the paint, like in silver. Besides, it's not as hard to match black as any other color. Also, you meay want to look into some sort of a clearcoat in a similar form. I did some touch ups, and wish I had clearcoat on them, since many are large scratches (ie: from "rubbing shoulders" with a parking lot light, etc. )
I wish you luck in your endeavor. I really hate that this happened to you...people need to respect each other and their vehicles more.
(I say this b/c my friends don't listen to me when I tell them lot to lean on my truck. Then, I get swirls. After that, their huge belt buckes scratch the clear, and when we're loaading equipment, they are careless enough to allow steel tubing to impact my paint--causing chips/scratches through the colorcoat...like you. I have used this trusty paint pen many times, and highly reccommend it.)

Thats why I hate to go to Wally-World. All of the low-life rednecks in Alabama shop there and they can't stand it because some people have a nice shinny late model truck that isn't full of dents, scratches, beer cans and cig butts. They think they're helpling you out by contributing something toward customizing your truck.
When I do go, I park as far away from the door as I can get and walk. It's cheaper in the long run because I don't have to repair paint damage. If I could get the wife to park her Town&Country away from the busy areas, then it would really make life easier.

Yeap watch out at Wally mart, those ladies will drive around the lot for hours just to get a parking spot close to the door then pull in so close you can't even crack your door to get in/out. Sounds like a buggie may have caused that stratch and as for you friend????
My advice--park way out in the boonies, in 2 spots, so nobody will door ding you, and nobody looks right standing around a truck with nothing around it for 20 yards. Works for me at least (knock on wood)
Yea it really ticks me off when nobody respects other people's property... Like I've said before I'm 17 years old, and most kids my age don't really care about other people's things. Just tear it up.. not their problem, right? I'm in a completely different mind set. I hate it when people tear around my things, so I don't do it to other people's things. Especially if some kid sees another kid with a later model vehicle like I have they immediately think that we are spoiled and our parents bought it for us... WRONG! My family farms, I NEED a truck to do work, and I paid for my OWN TRUCK with the money I earned from the several jobs and hard hours I put in. (yes, I do have some scratches and scuffs in my paint that are my fault from driving down service roads through brush and what not), but how would they like it if I damaged something they worked hard for? It also annoys me when some of my friends will be riding around with me in my truck, be sitting on the center console ( it is NOT a seat...), jumping around inside stepping on the leather seats with their shoes (hey... they are seats not step stools), and generally being disrespectful. (my truck is not a jungle gym)
Sorry guys, I guess I just needed to vent a little. :o

damn man that sucks, Hope you get it all fixed soon. I got a dent in my tailgate from a dumbass who cant back out without hitting another truck, and I had the same mirror scrape problem, although mine was by a plastic black one, left very slight 10" long dent, but the black paint wasable to be removed my some good polishing compound

Sounds like me I'm 17 myself and have a 2001 White 4x4 lariat and most kids think I'm spoiled but it was my dad's old truck and when they gave it to me they said all i would have to pay is my insurance. Well i said nope ( "I aint' asking nobody for nothin' if i cant get it on my own"- Charlie Daniels Band)
Anyways i pay the 789 dollar payments a month and the 275 dollars for insurance. Yeah most of my money goes into this truck about half of it. And i hate when my friends get in it jump around the seat or get in dirty or wet or my biggest leave trash in their and spit bottles. The other day some kid knocked my mirror off cause he was mad and my truck was the first thing he could take his anger out on!(made him pay for it) still waiting for body shop to get it in though 10 days and counting. Anyways people dont care for something that is not theres. It sucks i know how you feel.
