Wierd spots after a wash and wax job....please help
ok gods/goddesses of cleaning, I am in my hour of need
After 4 weeks of camping trips on dusty roads on weekends, I washed and waxed my baby last night. To my surprise, on the passenger side door there are spots the look like something has been poured out the window. They are really only noticable if you hit them in the right light, but still.
They go from the rear of the front passenger window down the side of the truck, getting wider (the "splatter" that is) as it goes down. strange thing is, the spray heads towards the front of the truck... wtf?
I woulda thought it would spray back if something was poured out?
Anyways, after a wash and wax with mothers wax and a power buffer, they are still there.
Tricks of the trade, or am i doomed to see spots when my baby's clean??
Thanks a million,
Tanner

I'm not a detailing guru by any stretch of the imagination.. but you're going to have to get something that cleans better than Mothers wax to remove whatever contamination that is.
As of now, you've just managed to seal it below a nice layer of wax.
Water spots are a pain to try to remove completely. I had sealed in a ton of them during my last wax that I couldn't see until the light hit it just right at night.

I'm not a guru either but try this. I had the same thing just from normal driving in the rain and the truck sitting parked in the rain. Use a paint cleaner, next a paint polish, then wax (synethic or carnuba)!
(I know its been awhile since I've been on here...I work for a living...)
--Use some sort of cleaner to remove the wax you just put on. I would claybar, then Meg.'s 3 step followed by a coat of NXT. But, that's just me. RP will surely have some other advice, but it's hard to say w/o seeing it. Good luck, though.
--I reccommend looking at the spot in "just the right light" before you wax. If it's still there, use a more aggressive paint cleaner, ie: something with a little more cut to it.
Have fun!

Clay won't do anything for it unless the problem is sitting above the paint with a decent 'thickness' so that clay could 'cleave' it off... I really don't think that's what's being described here.
To me, it sounds like you've managed to get something off the road on the paint or you've encountered some splatter from overspray on your tires or splatter from rotating tires on to your 'dark' paint.
The advice that was given earlier is your best bet... go with a paint cleaner of sorts -- a common and readily available version is the #1 step from Meguiar's in the Deep Crystal system (burgandy bottles numbered 1 through 3).
Once you've used the #1, you're going to want to follow with protection again -- your Mother's product is more than fine here...
What you're going to do with the #1 is basically remove the wax and everything else down to the clear. This isn't dangerous but should always be performed per the manufac's instructions (read the directions).

Thanks guys,
I been busy at work today, but if i can find a store that carries that paint cleaner open tomorrow, I'll have to give'er a shot, cuz the truck is still sitting where I cleaned it, been driving the company vehicle all week.
I'll let you all know how i make out if i get to it
