Leather problem..

My dad is iout of town and I want to surprise him by having his truck detailed. The only part he really cares about is the interior, so... Since his Lariat leather has some tears, what can I do to help that out, and what can I do to make the leather very clean and supple? (BTW, it's an F-250 Super duty Lariat). I have a carpet-type steam cleaner that I'm gonna use on the floorboards...will that also work on the leather, or will the brushes hurt the clearcoat?

RP, any other ideas to make his truck beautiful? I know that you're a detailing guru, and I would swear by your advise, as I've used it to great success.

Thanks in advance.

Wheel wells...door jambs...tailgate jambs...interior glass... inner and outer wheels...any visible undercarriage...hood jambs....inner vents... cup holders...plastic panel lines on the interior...

Those are just a few off the top of my head...

As for the leather -- sorry, ripped can't really be fixed well. Cleaners and conditioners, at this point, are futile in providing a solution for that problem. Johnson&Johnson baby soap can help remove ground in grunge. Condition with your favorite conditioner -- I really like Meguiar's Rich Aloe Conditioer (part of the two step process) for conditioning Lariat or other 'coated' leathers.

Muchos Gracias, Senor.

BTW, aside from my method of cleaning the engine bay (damp shoprag and dry shoprag), is there a good way to clean that's fast?

I don't like the idea of engine degreaser which requires a water hose...I've heard of too many people that have messed up their trucks by doing this.

as for the undercarriage...what's your preferred method of cleaning this. I know that I can't use a power steamer, b/c my pops says that it'll take away the rust-protective coating.

Thanks.

Engine bay -- lots of elbow grease and a damp terry towel. Once you get it 'good' once, maintenance is the key. I wipe my engine compartment down about every other wash utilizing Poorboy's S&W or another QD (after removing the gross contamination).

If you use a water hose, you're doing it at your own risk!! and I'd definitely suggest that you NOT use it.
