MAF Cleaning

I wasnt sure if this was the correct thread to post it in, but here goes...

I picked up this from Kragen for $5

and followed these directions
http://www.fordf150.net/howto/clean-...low-sensor.php

The can says "Proven to gain 4-10 horsepower at the wheels" ... i dunno if I believe that, but I thought it would be a good idea to keep that baby clean, if for nothing else to extend its life span.

Just thought I'd let ya guys know how easy everything was.

I didn't notice much difference in the performance of my truck after spraying the MAF with electrical contact cleaner. I couldn't unplug the sensor, so i just sprayed it through the air housing, waited for it to dry and re-assembled the air intake.

My wife drives a 99 expy. Its got 124000 on it. Currently getting 13 miles per gal. Would changing out the MAF help in mpg's. Oh, btw, its got all wheel drive on the thing. I think thats why my mpgs are down.

Have you ever changed the plugs? Have you done an FI cleaning?
These big boy SUV's aren't going to get great mileage in the first place, but you should be able to pull an average 14-15

I think a port & polish to the Throttle Body will get you some more power, I plan to do that to my Triton next month once I get time for my annual 6 day detail week
