Undercarage Cleaning Help
Undercarage Cleaning Help
Alright so today I figured I would clean up my undercarage a little bit and get all the mud off.
After about an hour of power washing and using car wash with an old rage I finished.
Only I am disappointed with the end result. After everything dried it still looked dirty. Here are some before and after pics.

After:

How do you guys get your looking so black and clean? Do I need to paint? or try a differnt cleaner that works for metal? Any help is greatly appraciated.

I agree, my local detail shop uses ALOT of black spray paint!
Try some Meguiars extreme tire shine(stuff in the aerosol can) for your wheel wells and plastic undercarrige parts...
Waittttttttt...
Go back out and remove the spare and wash it, then wash the brake guard shields again. Then spray the hell out of every thing with cheapo dire dressing, hell even armorall will work. Let it sit for about an hour and you are ready to roll.

Took me about 4 hours with a floor jack, except with the taller tires (33's), the jack wasn't much help. I need a lift...LOL! Took off the wheels and went to town with a brush and some APC. I really don't care for the painted look. Just clean is OK for me.

Gotta admit....got some weird looks as people went by...
"Uh....do you know you have a sprinkler under the truck"
"yea it was starting to brown so I'm watering it."
(got the idea from here and it worked great)
My wife has been after me to get nerf bar running boards. I like my truck without them, and then she said, "if you had them, the dirty frame would not show when you see the side of the truck". That started working on my mind, so Saturday while cleaning the truck, I got down on the ground and washed the frame that is exposed on the sides. It still looked faded and funky, so I thought about painting it, but then I decided to spray it with "Wet Tire". It looks great now. I felt like a Jr Rockpick for a few minutes.

It's not a show car so it's fine for me.

I've done that too your not the only one. It did actually work, and it saved me from climbing under my truck with a hose for an hour.
