Need Big Time Scratch Advice!!!

Long story short, my truck was vandalized last night and there's now a scratch (if you can call it that) in the body. This scratch goes deep enough to where there is visible white material (similar to fiberglass, don't know, though), probably about 2mm to 3mm wide at its worst. I understand that it can be fixed by removing the quarter panel and having it repainted in the hopes that it can be matched exactly to the original body color (Ford bright red), but I am HOPING that there is a solution out there other than that.

Taking all advice!!

If you're seeing white or grey, it has penetrated down to the base coat and/or the panel material. Long story short, there's no buffing it out at this point.

Sorry bud but, it's probably a paint job for the panel.

Go to www.autopia.org
Download the guide to detailing ebook, it's free and has tons of great info about detailing.

Under "paint clinic" there is a how-to for fixing a scratches with touch up paint and making it look as close to perfect as possible by wet sanding and polishing the area after the touch up paint has been applied.
Hope this helps

try calling a couple of used car lots/dealerships to see who does thier touch up paint work. i work at a dealership and we have this guy who has his own "paint shop on wheels", i think its called colors on parade. anyway he can fix scratches and chips and other paint damage perfectly. and its alot cheaper quicker than a body shop.
