Question Best Way to remove swirls? GOING TO GO AT IT NOW! HELP!

Ok I bought my truck used.

Well, such a damn new truck and someone who didn't know what the hell they were doing waxed this thing and left swirls ALLLLLLLL OVER it. I mean, it's probably the worste case I have ever seen.

I plan on doing the 3 step by meguiars today. Do you guys think the cleaner wax applied by hand should do the job? I am really against doing buffers I don't know. I'm also kinda against doing a cleaner wax on such a new paint but I think it's the only thing that's going to really get the swirls out??

Thanks for any of your help

-eric

It all depends on the severity of the swirls that you're looking at... my best recommendation is to use your hood as a test section and see if you're obtaining the results that you desire. Be reminded that some surface blemishes will *REQUIRE* the use of a rotary to 'remove' them.

In any sun there apparant. You don't have to be at a certain angle like most crappy wax applications. They are there! I don't know it's pretty bad!

what are your thoughts about the cleaner wax?

i'm going out in a few minutes to let the destruction begin. I'm going to stop in here and check in

Cleaner wax is a very good tool for maintaining and eliminating a very small amount of swirls... I use it in my aresonal (typically Medallion PPP)...

well i'm done with the cleaner wax and polish. I'm taking a little lunch break then i'll finish with a carnuba on top.
It appears so far that the cleaner wax did a really good job at getting the swirls out. I'm very happy.

dayum, i'll tell you what. These f150's are fricken huge. lol. alot of wax-on wax-off!

I'm impressed that you finished it this quickly... LOL! Glad it seems to have helped -- what you're seeing is probably a result of some cleaning and a lot of filling... this being said, you definitely should 'top' it with a pure wax or synthetic to lock the fill in place to a certain degree...

well i just finished the carnuba about 20 minutes ago.

So about 5 hours total to put on the three coats!
What would you reccomend as a pure wax?
I did put that carnuba on knowing/thinking it is a very thick waxand should help seal the filling.

LOL well if your impressed than i'm impressed! hehe

Three coats by hand?! Argh... I'm sore thinking about that. You really really really need to think about a PC!

Putting a wax on 'thick' really doesn't accomplish much other than emptying your bottle in a more rapid fashion. In short, the film build that you're putting on your paint is soooooo thin that even a 'thinly' applied layer is more than thick enough.

I don't know of any products that will 'help' you by applying them 'thick' from a car care perspective.

As for a pure wax -- this is something that has no cleaners. Some of the general favorites are P21S, #26, #16...oodles of others... some contain VERY slight amounts of cleaners that may do a little but, overall, they're considered 'pure' by the masses...

Yeah, I didn't necessarily mean that I was putting the wax on thick, just that compared to other finishing waxes carnuba seems and from research I have done is the one of the "thicker" sealing waxes.

Is p21s the manufacturer? i've never heard of it. I need to look into it.

yeah 3 coats by hand takes some agression and/or stupidity?!?! LOL but i do ceramic tile and hardwood for a living so I'm used to working with my hands.
