best method

okay I have an 92 Black Benz. The paint still has good color but it is not "vibrant" and has swirl marks. I wanted to clean it up and give it a good polish and wax "the works" can anybody give me a process and some name brands to go buy? Thanks in advance.

On a 1992 finish, depending on what you want I would shell out the $ for a professional to do it. If not I recommend Liquid Galss pre-wax and wax. As far as swirl marks go, againf if theyv'e been there all those years thet are not going to go away.

Having not seen it, it's a tough call to make to explain how to handle the problems...

With this in mind, I'd highly recommend taking it to a reputable detailer that would have access to a multitude of abrasive polishes (that can remove the swirls), mechanical application methods, and most importantly techniques that can be essential to paint problem removal.

Sorry to sidestep your question but, I don't think anyone here is going to be able to guide you on this one; especially sight unseen.

Z is a good product. No doubt about it but, from the sounds of it, you're still going to need a mechanical application to 'remove' the swirls from your paint and get it back to par.

Don't expect miracles from any product... surface prep is esential to making ANY system of products (Meguiars, Turtle, Mothers, Zaino, Poorboys, 4-star, Wolfgang... etc... etc..) work. Surface prep, in my opinion, accounts for about 97% of the battle when getting a vehicle back to par. The other 3% falls into attention to detail (wheel wells, wheels, tires) and a few other piddly things. Anyone can smack a coat of wax/sealant on a vehicle and call it a day.
