What is the best way to remove stains on light grey cloth seats?

What kind of stains do you have? How many stains do you have? There are quite a few different products on the market and methods out there for you to try out.

If it's only a few stains then I'd probably recommend you going with a product like Meguiars Heavy Duty Carpet & Interior Cleaner. This is a fantastic product, I've removed a lot of vehicle stains with this. The only problem that I have with this product is it comes in a 16oz. container, not enough if you have numerous stains. I would recommend soaking the stain with this then using a brush such as Meguiars All-Surface Interior Brush and that should remove most stains.

Now if you have a lot of stains then I would move onto more of an All Purpose Cleaner. One of the best details I have seen where the interior went from trashed to looking brand new was the use of a common Wal-Mart shelf product. The person mixed Oxy-Clean and water with a 1 scoop per 1 gallon ratio. He soaked the stains with the product and scrubbed them out using a stiff brush, such as the Meguiars All-Surface Interior Brush.

No matter what solution to the product you use, defenitly vaccum out your interior before beginning.

You asked for the best way, and on the New Model with the very light gray, the only method that ever seemed to work (judged by looking at it 48 hours later in bright light) was steam cleaning with a home steam cleaner.

Dang handy thing to have since they only cost 125-160 for a good one.

Everything else I've seen recommended did not work on my seats.

I replaced them with black leather, and have the old covers here, and turned inside out, you can see they are very stained.

This is in a truck that had 7000 miles on it when they were pulled, and never had anything spilled on them except a little drinking water, a spattering of rain (once on the corner of one seat) and a (very) little sweat.

These seat covers never had any grime on them, no work use, no animals, no one with poor hygene, no grease, nothing. The white leather in my wife's last car had 6 years on it and not a spot.
At 7k, less than a year, these seats looked ten years old.

They are with out a doubt the most easily stained seats on anything I have ever driven.
Best of luck
Chris

I'm not a fan of the Meguiar's fabric cleaning products. The only one that I thought was pretty good was discontinued when they revamped the 'D-line' (detailer line)... that one was called APC+.

What kind of interior staining are we talking about? Is it food/drink?

I understand completly about the stains on these seats.

I have an 04' and the seats look TERRIBLE! I tried using somthing a while back i a very small spot.. made it into a large spot and didnt remove the original stain. I hate the new body style seats!?! I gave up after that.

Sounds like steam is the way to go.. Better put it on my Christmas list.

Be careful with Oxy Clean. Try it on a hidden spot first. It can take some color out, it did on my carpet in my home.

Yes, always try it in small hidden spot first. I've ruined carpeting in my house before using products that say they will work but just make the entire problem worse.

i've noticed that the seats in my 04 screw will stain reaaaaaalllly easy. i picked up my girlfriend and a friend of hers in the rain one day and now where they were both sitting there are "wet spots" that arent wet. they're easy to take care of, its just a pain in the *** to have to keep getting the seats a little wet and scrubbing em to keep em lookin good.

Having the same color interior - and the same problem - I can offer one additional hint. No matter what product you try, do NOT attempt to spot clean. You may remove your spot, but end up with what looks like a water stain. I've started cleaning whole seat panels - even if I only had a small spot. This seems to mask the issue somewhat.

...and on a visible part of my living room couch!! Exactly why I have yet to try it on my truck.

I just can't believe that Ford would release any product, much less a truck that they know will get more "active" use, with seats that stain so easily. I just got my first WATER stain yesterday, I can't believe it. If you can't drink water in a vehicle without worrying about staining it, then what the heck can you do!!
