A Bug Stained My Bumper

I was washing the bugs off of my truck this afternoon after I drove about 200 miles across Florida. I must have hit a big one or something, but after I washed it off there was a big orange spot where it collided. I scrubbed and I scrubbed, and then I waxed, but it wouldn't come off. It's like it's guts stained the paint.
I was wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem, and if so how did you fix it?
My truck is white by the way.

I had the same problem and the only thing that worked real good was a power washer and then a heavy wax.

I recommend Gunk Bug and Tar Remover. You can pick it up at Autozone.

Use a dryer sheet. Dip it in you wash bucket and go to town on the nasty buggers. It will be gone in no time.

Do dryer sheets really work that well? I've heard a lot of people talking about them, but I'm still skeptical. I'm definetly going to try it next time. Thanks!

I have never heard of using a dryer sheet, thats a new one on me. Just go to the local wal0mart and get a bottle of mineral spirits. Smells like rain-x, and removes anything that will come off. Just be careful, the stuff will harm your paint if you don't know what you are doing

Laugh it up guys...But im telling you, dryer sheets work great. I use them all the time to get the bugs off the front of my truck. Last time I washed it, I noticed a bunch of stains on my hood from the leaves falling off the trees and sitting on my hood. Washing and waxing alone wouldnt take the stains out. The dryer sheet did. And no, it doesnt scratch it at all. Im sure theres a ton of products you can go spend gobs of money on. But why bother, when most of us have some dryer sheets laying around already. Just dip it in your wash water and scrub away.

My stain is gone though. I dropped off the truck at the dealer for them to look at a few things and when I picked it up, to my surprise, it was detailed. Guess it just came off with the pressure washer, or it just faded away by itself.
But kudos to the All American Ford dealership in Tallahassee for detailing the truck. There were A LOT of love bugs on that bad boy!

Tardman91,

I used to live in Tampa, still have some family friends in New Port Ritchie.

What I found while down there is to use the Meguairs detail spray. Wet the area and let the detail spray work on the bugs for five minutes. Best part is the more you use it the easier they come off. Do not let love bugs stay on your paint longer than 1 day, They will pit your clearcoat.

You're absolutely correct Brewdude, it does work. I've used that trick for several months now!
