Pressure washers?

I have seen some relatively inexpensive electric pressure washers at Home Depot, and thought I might try one for under carriage, etc cleaning.
Does any one have one?
Worth a try?

I use my pressure washer on my house. I haven't had very good experience with it on any vehicle. Good ol' elbow grease and a sponge/mitt gets much better results.

I have a Campbell-Hausfield (snared at Wally-World for around $150). It's incredibly handy around the house...

My only complaint is that it's a bit clumsy with a hose and extension cords and such... other than that, it's a must have for a home owner/vehicle enthusiast...

3700PSI 13HP gas powered Troy-Bilt here ($1000 @ Lowes). The way I see it, being able to blast everything off with high pressure minimizes the chances of swirl marks from dragging debris across the paint. It makes washing in general so much easier like blasting off hard to remove bugs/splats and dried mud for example with ease without contaminating your washmit.

I have a pressure washer with heat. Runs on diesel.

Bought it 15 years ago used for 2000.00 off a surface mine cleaning company.
It will bring off anything you point it at.

Mostly use it on my atvs to keep them clean. And the frame of my truck to keep the mud off.

I have a Karcher 2600 PSI gas pressure washer that I got at Menards for $350. I originally bought it because I thought it would great on the truck, but for vehicles now I just use it for power washing the undercarriage. I found it also works great for knocking down mud wasp nests that have accumulated in the corners of my house!

I was also thinking about getting the same thing, until I borrowed my father's electric one. The electric cord just seems to get in the way and they aren't as powerful as their gas powered brothers. I'm definitely going with a gas one when I finally buy. . .

Some pressure washers get awful hot. Hot enough to melt the door trim on a Taurus. Ask me how I know. Just something to be aware of.

$60 hdpowerwasher @ home depot last winter...

i wash my motorcycle with it. i even run hot water through it to do my whole truck. especially the undercarriage during the winter. 1400 psi is a whole lot more than a hose.

I got a 13 hp honda 3700 psi pressure washer that cost $1000 at home depot and an exenstion wand that reaches 24 ft in length $200. That is a side business in the summer that I do.

Whatever you do, be careful!
I used one this past weekend and it took the paint right off my bumper!
It's probably about the size of a quarter.
I kind of had a lapse in judgement and put the sprayer too close. I guess I had a rock chip or something at the spot and the next thing I know, paint is flying off.
I guess I know what my next weekend project will be

Gary

we have one of the cheaper electric one from home depot. no problems with it. it cleaned mud off the truck after sticking it at the park on the way to set up my son's first birthday ... sorry different story. It sprays off bugs (soap would have helped) but for personal occasional use - i say it does the trick for the money.
