Think there are several threads for this which may have better ideas, but I've had good luck with claying the glass. Some have also said to wipe with a white vinegar/water mix, CLR, etc, etc. Good Luck.

Has anyone tried this product on their PC to clean the glass?

I can't seem to remove the waterspots on the windshield with anything. I've tried 0000 steel wool, CLR, clay, and vinegar. Nothing works.

Use 000 steel wool and use Meguiars Paint cleaner (the #1 you can get off the shelf anywhere) It acts as a lube on the glass and aids in breaking down the spots just as if it were on paint. I have never had this not work. If this doesn't work for some odd reason...they aint comin off.

I know this is probably cost prohibitive, but I installed a water softener since we had seriously hard water. Now, no water spots, period. Just thought I'd share.

Thats funny you mention that I`ve been thinking of getting one, my sprinklers are killing me. If you dont mind can you tell me how much you paid for one. Does the size of you house matter. Where to puchase. Thanks.

FX4 - This may be my only option. We have well water and use a filter under the kitchen sink for this very reason. I'd be interested to know what you use on the outside of your house and the cost.

Thanks.

It was around 600 installed, but you can get various options which will affect the cost one way or the other. House size doesn't necessarily matter as more importantly thel need to answer questions pertaining to the amount of water used per day, water pressure, and how much hardness in the water exists which will require a water test (this is done by the water softener representative). Once these questions are answered, you then can determine what size softener will best suit your needs. Here is a website link that can help answer some questions. http://ewateronline.net/sizing.htm

We use Culligan, www.culligan.com here locally and they are great. Good luck!

We have a private well too. The water softener we have also softens the water to the outside spigots.

Thank you, we have city water but its pretty hard and the wife complains about spots on the glasses in the dish washer after being washed. We use a lot of water with the sprinklers and the wash and other thing. One more question do you have a whole house water filter also?

edit: FX4&EXCURSION, thanx for the links, Culligan will be at my house to test my water Saturday at 11am. Thank god.

Sears, Home Depot, Lowe's all sell them and you can install it yourself. Can purchase bags of salt darn near anywhere, at least around here. The question I have about this though is... Since a Water Softener works by adding a small amount of salt to your water, will this have a long term effect on your vehicle? Most people I know do not have the softener feeding their outdoor faucets. May also effect the grass and plants. Not sure.

I spent 45 minutes last night on my windshield with 0000 steel wool and Invisible Glass. Didn't make much of a difference at all. I can't get rid of these hard water stains.
