Thumbs up Thanks Boss, RP and others!!

As most of the general public, I've always used the "popular" vinyl products like Armour All. NO MORE!! I was finally able to find a bottle of Vinylex a few weeks ago. Only had a chance to apply it once before going to work. Just came in today with my truck parked in a huge shell/limestone parking lot for 2 weeks; lo and behold, NOT A SPECK OF DUST on my dash. This has never been the case with any of my vehicles. I do plan on trying MG's Interior Quik Detailer to see which one works better. I also switched to Lexol for the seats and much prefer the feel it gives over others I've tried.

P.S. - Guess I'll have to try a bottle of NXT, but been using Liquid Glass for so many years, this one's gonna be hard to change. Comments? Pros/Cons

Thanks again guys for all the help that you so willingly donate to us dummies; Hey, there's an idea; never seen "Car Detailing for Dummies, Inside and Out" Maybe ya'll can get together, write a book, make all this worth while.

Glad to have helped a bit. There are a boatload of great products on the market from a slew of different manufacturers. The trick is to get out there and try a few of them and find one that you like and stick with it. LG is a great product so, if you're pleased with the results, stick with it. If you're interested in experimenting, keep an open mind and give some others a try...

Enjoy!

cobra,

You are more than welcome!

RP hit the nail on the head... keep an open mind, try some other products, and come to your own conclusions. In the end, the only opinion that matters... is yours!

This is an interesting exchange... I have used Liquid Glass for 25 years and I have been very happy with it. In fact my 175,000 mile 10 year old black Ranger looked better in the dealers lot than most of the used vehicles with 20% of the mileage.

I just had an Invisible Bra installed on my truck today and had it done at what I believe was a high end detail shop. My black FX4 is real new and has only 1,000 miles and two coats of liquid glass and the experienced installer was nervous that he could not get all the LG off and it might compromise the look of the 3M bra.

I asked him what he thought of LG and he told me that I should be careful if I change products. Like the exchange here he said "If you have the technique down and it's working for you than you should continue to use it".

Well as I talked with him and looked at the customer wall with the high end Maserati(s) and other real expensive cars and the national trophies that some of his customers have I kind of had a pretty good feeling that he had some real good high end experience.

He used different products that what I use but I'm probably 15 years behind in technology...

So my real questions..

1> Has anyone had any real life experience with LG and left the product?

2> Why

3> To What and Why...

Hey Jack, like I originally stated, I have also used LG for years and have always been very happy with the results. But, since all things evolve over time and most of the forums that I have read recommend NXT, I thought I would give it a try. I have found it to be very similiar to LG as far as putting on/taking off; gloss level seems about the same; NXT has a much better smell IMO. Now I'm waiting to see how long it will last. Remember when "everybody" used Turtle Wax because it was the best thing going? I just don't want to get stuck a rut by being afraid to try new products that may be better, last longer or are easier to use. I know what you mean about your Ranger as I sold my '96 F-150 when I got my Screw in April and I do believe it had a better shine on her than the day I brought her home; or maybe I was just sad to see her go!

LG is a good product... period!

There is nothing wrong with sticking with a product you like. On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with trying other products... many people do it with no ill effects.

I have a LOT of very good products. Some better than others. Of course, the only way I was able to determine that... was by trying them.

True... That is how I got to use LG... That is why I'm asking and taking advantage of these new fangled electronic forums.. not being too funny here but I have had great success with LG on multiple M/Vs..

However I have obtained the good results (IMHO) with LG only after repeated applications.. It would be nice to have a easy to apply product that last through repeated car washes... I could also ask for unlimited bank account and I'll probably get that before I'll get the once a year M/V finish protection..

Today I bought a product called 'WheelWax' that is supposed to change the static charge on the rims to keep that brake dust to a minimum.. Need to resolve that issue.. or I'll be forced to change the pads real early and move to try ceramic.

Off and on I have tried some of the other touted products that my friends have used and they look good for a few months and seem to wash off easily.. whether I use too much of a concentrate of soap or my wife does me a favor and hits a car wash.. So if someone uses/used LG and found better results I would really listen. I live in the northeast and the cr!p that is spread on the roads is different in every town, county and state DOT road. I have been in places where they spread ash, or a salt/chemical liquid that dissolves the snow before it builds.. how good is that on finishes/wax/polishes...

I guess I'm old school.. or maybe just plain old but I usually subscribe to the notion of no pain no gain.. I know that is not what most of these products say.. In fact I basically don't care how much effort is involved.. (to a point )... I am really looking for results.. I like the look that people have when they ask me "New truck" and I take some pride when I tell them it has almost 200K and 10 years on the road.

Right know I just have to say it's a new truck.. and listen that LG is a good product.. that actually makes me feel good.
