Clay Magic

Howdy! I just traded in my 99 Mustang GT for an 02 F150 Supercrew FX4. When I owned the mustang, I used clay bar and Meguiar's 3 step system (paint cleaner, polish, wax) on a regular basis. Of course I have every intention of making this truck look just as good as the mustang did. This time, however, I tried a different brand of clay bar: Clay Magic. Before, I had used Mother's Clay Bar. Anyway, I washed with dish soap to remove all the old wax and crap, and then proceeded to clay bar. I used a soft cloth to wipe up all the excess clay lube, but since using the clay bar is a pretty messy ordeal, there was still a little dry clay lube on the truck. But when it came time to use the Meguiar's Paint Cleaner, it left awful streaks that wouldn't rub/buff out! I tried using a wet microfiber towel and everything. Anyway, I wasn't going to wash the truck again so I decided to skip to the wax. Some of the streaks left behind by the clay lube aren't so visible anymore, but what the hell is the problem? I've never seen this happen before. Is there something wrong with the clay lube or is it the Meguiar's paint cleaner? The Meguiar's 3 step system has always worked so great, so I'm inclined to think it was the clay bar or clay lube.

I've always used the Clay Magic product and have never had a problem with it leaving behind any residue...

Is it like a 'smeared' look?

Yes, it's a smeared look. But the "smears" don't rub off!
