Deep Scratch Advise

Finally got some time to wash the truck and do a quick detail on it, didn't come out to bad.

One thing I noticed, and have no idea how it got there, is a deep scratch just in front of the right rear fender. The photo doesn't really do it justice, it's a good one. All the way through the paint down to what I suppose is primer. Does anyone know of a way to get rid of it? I've got the little container of touch up paint that came with my truck, but that could be risker than just leaving it alone .

So, with that in mind, you have those two options.... touch up and wetsand it out or attempt to remove some of the problems around it to make it less noticable.

If it were mine, I'd go with the TU Paint and wetsand it back down. From there, the scuffs that you introduce with your 2000 grit can be removed by hand with a product like Meguiar's #9 or Scratch X.

Thanks for the reply RP. The link you posted was detailed and hopefully I'll be able to do it without further damaging the surface. I'm sure the scratch is compliments of someone in a parking lot. I had my fingers crossed that the remedy would be an easy one, but knew in the back of my mind it wouldn't be.
