Angry Speed Glaze Removed Most Of The Swirls, But...

certainly not all of the swirl marks on my truck. I spent about 6 hours Saturday and actually did the hood 3 times with the speed glaze. It was actually quite easy with the G100. THANKS BOSS FOR YOUR IMPUT!!!!! I also put a coat of Meguiars #21 on the truck. It does look much better than the dealer could have ever done, however in the bright sun, at certain angles, you can still see some minor swirls/spider webs on the hood and doors. So, do I need to use the speed glaze again? I called Meguiars and they said it would be almost impossible to remove all the swirls from a black truck. Is this true? And guys, I do have a life beyond this website; but I really do appreciate all your hlep.

Hey Tami,

What the folks at Meguiar's told you could be true... at least partially, and possibly in your case. The PC (G100) is only a polisher and is limited to what it can do... depending on the condition of your paint. If the swirls are really bad, it would probably take a rotary buffer and much more aggressive products, followed by a couple less aggressive products to remove the swirls compeletely.

However, you still have a couple options to improve the situation...

You can go to a slightly more aggressive product like DACP (about the limit with a PC)

You could also go with a final polish like Menzerna Final Polish II after the DACP or Speed Glaze.

To be honest, keeping swirls out of a black vehicle is almost a full time job and there comes a point where you run the risk of removing to much clear coat. Get them as best as you can and then use an LSP (wax or sealant) that will help hide them.

Also, do everthing in your power to minimize re-introducing them. (washing/drying/QD'ing processes)

Hey Boss, enlighten me for a moment. What is LSP and HTH? Also, is Menzerna Final Polish II a Meguiars product or a Menzerna product. I just thought in might be something like Meguiars Menzerna Final Polish II. Never heard of Menzerna before. Thanks....

Sure...

LSP = Last Step Product (protective coating - wax or sealant)
HTH = Hope this helps.

Menzerna is a different company. They are a German maker of extremely high quality automotive polishes (and many other products)
