I have water spots on my chrome nerf bars and cannot get them out. I've used several chrome polishes with no luck. Does anybody know of a product that will remove them and still leave the shine and not damage them?

With all my research so far, I've found the following products that may help:
- Bon Ami Steel Glo
- Brasso metal polish
- Distilled white vinegar mixed with water

If anybody has any experience removing water spots on chrome, I would appeciate any feedback.

Water and vinager will work fine or you can get a bottle of Ducky from a local marine supply store.

 

Well I tried distilled white vinegar on my nerf bars and I wasn't able to get the water spots out. I guess I'll keep trying until I find something that works.

 

I had run into the same problem with a previous truck. Sprinklers ran it it for over a week while out of town. Mr Metal worked great for me.

 

I agree with the distilled white vinegar. Very easy to use and works quickly and easily

 

Who makes Mr. Metal? I'd like to try some. I also just ordered Blue-Job chrome restorer and SpotX water spot remover from Chrome and Glass Restorer, Inc. I'll post results after I get them in.

 

most of the guys on here will cringe at this one but i use an SOS pad (has to be the name brand SOS) to clean my chrome(metal not plastic) first, then use the polish to clean it up after i dry it. i make sure i have lots of water on the pad before i use it on the chrome. i've been doing this for years on chrome without ever having any problems. i've never had a problem with scratches either, the key things is make sure the pad is soaking wet, hose off, dry it then polish.
