cloth or leather?

Hey guys I am about to order a 2006 F250 PSD I am leaning towards the xlt sport with the black leather. My only question is how well does the leather hold up? Does it hold up better than cloth seats? I drive about 50k a year so I want something comfortable but something that will hold up well also.

Thanks

My parents have leather in both of their vehicles, and it holds up real well. When I bought my truck, I opted for cloth though. Leather is too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. I didn't want my three daughters (always wear shorts) to burn the schit out of their legs every time they got in my truck.

I think both have their benefits, if you don't have the problems I have, then personally I think leather would be better.

To each his own I guess.

I have cloth in my 04 F150, and it was a wrong part on my half to get cloth. The cloth in the new trucks are very hard to keep clean! I can't get mine looking good for even a week and I baby the seats! Get leather, much easier to clean, it holds up good and makes the truck look better!! Next truck I get will have leather in it

Some people say they hate leather in the summer from the heat?? Whats so hard about throwing a towel down on the seats?? Same in the winter? Not hard guys.

I had leather in my last truck and don't miss it now-the cloth is fine and I saved beacoup dollars. I really don't think about what I am sitting on as I drive along.

I agree, leather is very easy to keep clean and keep looking nice. It may take a little more effort as far as the cleaning and conditioning but worth it, especially if you have kids.

Now when they dump whatever sugar packed beverage they're drinking all I have to do is wipe it up. The cloth seat would absorb the liquid and then it would be a PITA to get the stain out. Same goes for gummy bears and skittles. Just wipe them up, don't have to worry about them grinding their way into the cloth.

I have the gray leather, so it's not so effected by the sun, doesn't get that hot. In the winter the seats only cold for a couple of minutes until your butt heats it up .

Leather. It is easier to clean, but will require more work since you'll want to condition that leather on a regular basis.

I have the leather, after having cloth it just seems that the leather seats are better, firmer and more comfortable than the cloth. Cleaning, not a problem.

So since you have to put cloth down anyways, why not cut to the chase and get cloth seats??? Doesn't make sense to get leather just to cover it up with cloth does it?

That's my opinion on it.

I opted for leather. I have a shorthaired dog (vizsla) and his little red hairs get everywhere in my car. They seem to just stick to the cloth seats. When he's been in my parent's car with leather seats, though, it's just a damp paper towel away from being no hair at all.

As for the heat in the summer.. screw the towel even, just put up a sunshade. It will not only save your rear from getting scortched, it will save your hands from getting blistered on a hot steering wheel or dash.

On a side note: what do you all use to condition your leather seats with? I've thought about using a leather conditioner product designed for my easy chair. Is there any reason I should be concerned about using something like that in my truck?

I've had leather up until now and I wish I would have layed down the $$$ for leather. With the way these new cloth seats are and having a little water leave a stain, I would say opt for the leather. I miss it !

Ayres,

Try the Mequires leather cleaner and conditioner, it is very good,
easy to apply and looks good when done.

SEU1 has it right. The cloth seats on my 04 F-150 are a bear to keep clean, (requires steam cleaning about once a month) and just plain old look cheap compared to leather. And it doesn't seem to wear as well as any leather seat I have ever had.
I wouldn't pay the big bucks for leather, but it's an option that I would prefer.
Chris
