Hard Water Etching
Hard Water Etching
My wife's car was hit by a sprinker system at her work and the sun baked in a ton of water spots that left some nasty hard water mineral etches. I used a foam applicator with some MPPC and it seems to have done an ok job. I didn't use my PC, I worked small areas very hard by hand. I then applied MPPP for a nice shiny finish.
My question is, does anyone feel ScratchX works better for this or would you choose MPPC? I am not fully satisfied with the overall outcome of the spots after working the whole car (by hand) with MPPC. I really wanted to use the PC to work it even more, but I'm in a temp. apt for the rest of this week and didn't have such access to power, etc. The MPPP does a good job of hiding the spots, I'm just afraid that they may have been cooked into the paint too long for me to remove. (3 days in CA sun)
Thanks

slippy,
Yeah......... if they are etched into the paint, you may have to go after them with something more aggressive. You could always try the distilled vinegar trick.......... I've used it with mixed results.

Use a clay bar on those water spots. Living in San Diego, the water here is so bad you shouldn't drink it and NEVER let your car/truck air dry. As soon as I am done washing / rinsing the KR, I immediately wipe her down with a chamosis and then hit it with microfiber towels (one in each hand). Keeps the water spots to a minimum, if any. But using a clay bar with the detailing spray will remove most of the spots before they get etched into the paint.
