Waxed wheels and wheel cleaner

Okay, I finally put some NXT on my Lariat wheels to hopefully help with the brake dust (and to protect the finish of course). Will wheel cleaners take the wax off? I'm assuming that they will be easier to clean now so should I skip the wheel cleaners and just use soap and water?

Thanks

Yes, most wheel cleaners are pretty aggressive, and will probably remove some, if not all the NXT. Try the car wash soap & water. The NXT should make cleaning off any brake dust pretty easy. When they start getting difficult to clean, that's the time to use the wheel cleaner, and re-coat with NXT.

Applied a coat of NXT to my Lariat wheels this weekend also. I hope it helps with the brake dust.

That's just what I was thinking, I wanted to hear it from someone else.

Thanks

I've never used wheel cleaner, just used the same soapy water I used on the car. I've always done the wheels last so I don't transfer the crap back on to the paint. If they're really bad I've used Simple Green, but I'd never use those expensive, harsh cleaners on a clearcoated wheel. I honestly believe that most wheel/ paint corrosion is caused by people using too many harsh chemicals.

So is Simple Green less abrasive? What dilution do you use? What do you use on your tires?

Thanks again.
