id do it... just wash your truck right before you take it in, take some pics of it... let them wash it and scratch it all to hell.... then take it back to em and be like "I aint diggin this... you guys need to repaint it" and since they did it, i guess nobody is at fault but them... and since they cover warrenty on parts and labor, why not on a car wash? they should take washing their vehicles a little more seriously... if any other car wash screws off your paint, they are liable for it... what makes Ford that special? i would let the sh*t hit the fan if they scratched up my truck (but i wouldnt care at the moment.... its white, has scratches, as well as a nice coat of tree sap from sitting under a fern for 6 years LOL it needs to be detailed.... just a tad)

Back in high school, some of my friends worked at a dealership detailing cars......Remember in Bad Boys 2 when they confiscte the Caddy from Dan Marino and the salesman, Will Smith says " Dan Marino should definatley buy this car...but not this cause Im gonna **** this one up, but he should definatley get one just like it."

And I will leave it at that

 

When my 2005 Lariat came into the dealership, I stopped in to see the truck and to sign the paperwork, I walked around the truck and there was a scratch in the tailgate and in the passenger side door. The saleman said that they were transportation scratches and that their best bodyman would buff them out before I took ownership of the truck. A few days later, when I picked up the truck, it was raining real hard so, I could not take a good look at what he did. So the next day when it stopped raining, I wiped the areas clean and long and behold, I saw huged scratches covering up the original scratches. I was horriified to see what he did. I called the saleman back and his response was that I should of inspected the truck before I took possession of it. After a shouting match, I had a friend buff out the sratches the right way. So, I would never have the dealer do anything unless it was major warranty work. Any minor warranty work that needs to be I pay someone other than the dealer to fix it the right way the first time. Have you ever seen some of the techs that work in these dealerships?? Pretty scary people!!

 

Not all but definately some.

Luckily, the two stealerships that I've dealt with here in the Louisville Metro area have been top notch. While I'm not saying that they haven't screwed up somewhere, to date, they've done just about everything right for me.

Frankly, lots of the folks who work in some of the 'detail bays' at the dealerships have no business operating a rotary buffer. While some are very talented and can achieve high marks and great results, many of them are very low paid folks who really honestly think that they're doing a good job when handed a rotary and a buffing pad that has been sitting in the parking lot for three days through two rain storms and a sand storm. Simply put, some don't know any better.

While I whole-heartedly agree that you should have a flawless finish when you take delivery and that there's no excuse for you not to, I do see both sides of the coin here. Regardless, the selling dealership should've tried to make it right. From the sounds of it, they didn't. That's when I'd remember them when the survey comes to my door...

I could tell you horror stories about what I've seen the clean up guys at work do, but I don't want anyone tossing and turning in their sleep tonight.

Next time my baby is at the dealer I'm going to make a serious point that they do not wash it. Last time, I told the service guy NO WASH but I didn't think to make him write it anywhere, and the idiots washed it anyway. It looked like hell when it came out. My baby was all drippy and raggedy.

I'm another nay vote for the dealer wash.
