detailer interior cleaning compounds safe for dash?? [GMC probs before]

I'm the kinda guy that takes his truck down to the carwash/detailer frequently. Cleaned up most times but occ. ArmorAll'ed (or whatever they use) inside sometimes too...

I did this w/my prior 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 ("SL" trim, med/dark grey) and after 2 yrs it seemed that some of the 'paint' peeled from the plastic dash trim ring areas, ashtray fronts, etc. Seems that dark grey paint was on top of actual black plastic.

I now have a 2004 F150 XLT (white truck, grey interior/trim, lighter steering wheel). Will the typical detailing compounds cause problems on these interior finishes? I'm gonna keep this truck awhile and wanna keep it sharp.

[I'm not faulting the carwash/detailer stuff - I think their stuff is good on most vehicles and GMC just had a finish problem. Lotsa _nice_ expensive foreign cars go thru here and if they had problems you know something woulda changed by now...]

Use any high quality water based protectant............... like 303, NXT, or Poorboy's Natural Look protectant and numerous others, and you shouldn't have any problems. As a matter of fact, the new Armor All protectant (which is water based) should also work without a problem.

I suspect, (like you) that there was a problem with the finish on the dash............. not the products.
