Decals

Hi, Recently took delivery on a silver 01 Lightning. The collector who owned it rarely drove it and until recently it had never seen rain. I am actually preparing to seal-wax for the first time. I will most likely use NXT, but am concerned about the factory decals on the Lightning. Does anyone have any insite as to what seal-wax can and cannot be used with decals. Am I OK with the NXT or is there another product(s) you would recommend for its first coats? Thanks

I don't have a lightning, but I wax right on top of the decals without any problems (meguiars). Go nuts, just be careful if the decals are peeling on the edges.

As to polishing, look up RockPick in the search (under user's posts). He is the Polish Guru

I know of no wax or sealant that will harm stickers. Just wax right over them.

Have you given any thought to using Zaino? I had a silver 01 and used the Z2. 5 coats and it looked very sweet and very long, good 6 months protection…

Zaino was going to be my first choice, but the label said to avoid using with decals. The NXT did not have the same warning. Thanks

I am not sure I understand what you are calling decals. For example my old truck an 01 XLT Sport had the “Sport” decal on the back of the bed.

However my new truck a Lightning has no decals at all. I have 8 coats of Zaino on it, it is sonic blue, and no problems what so ever.

Perhaps you are calling the plastic badges decals? The one’s up front that say Lightning and the one in the back that says SVT F150…

If so then Zaino will not hurt them, and as a matter of fact Zaino will not hurt decals. As I mentioned my old truck had them and it had 8 coats of Zaino as well for over 2 years. Never a problem…
