paint on roof rails!

not sure what they are actually called, i think they are rain channels, but anyway, when waxing my baby, i noticed that the two outside channels are not really painted!they are, but like in the creases for the roof you can still see the primer. now, can i have the dealer fix it or is that a do it myself act? my truck is red and it is only 3 months old. those channels are already showing signs or corrosion. what do you guys think? thanks, willie

There was a bunch of posts on this several years ago, but I thought this problem was solved. Anyway, If I remember correctly, there is a body seam there from 2 panels joining. Then, there is some type of adhesive caulk type goop put over the seam before paint is applied. Many members here took trucks in with cracks in the paint to be fixed and painted. I do remember there were very specific posts on this subject that you can probably search out, but they did involved the body shop.

Search for 'goop' or something.

There's plenty to read on this topic.
Search "roof cracks", "roof channels", and "rain gutters".
Do each search in the "other body" area of the board.
