Just got a set of Eagle 101's. What's the consensus for wheel wax? Which brand and is it worth the effort?

Also, depending on the type of wheel you have............ chrome, aluminum, or clear-coated, you could get a good light polish, and then top with a good synthetic wax.

 

I asked about the 'WHEEL WAX' a while back and got mixed results and opinions. I don't know much about it honestly as I didn't try it.

What I do know is that the braking system generates a lot of heat and thus, a regular carnauba wax probably won't hold up very long because of the temperatures. Thus, I'd recommend going with a quality synthetic like NXT or Z (among others).

BostonCowboy; This combo has been very good for me 1st I use
about 5 to 6 coats of liquid glass on each of the wheel's over time & man are they easy to keep clean & this stuff is indestructable
even on the wheel's. I use the teflon wax made by dupont last
on this combo, & they keep them selve's clean, also if you have an old clay bar clean the wheels with one before you wax with any wax! LIVE LONG AND PROSPER. .TURBO TED

 

They are polished aluminum.



I know that I am in for some polishing.....just looking to extend the time between as much as possible.

Ted, Where do you get the teflon wax?

Boss, Have you tried the wheel wax? The website does not say if it's synthetic.

I do not want to waste the time or money if any old wax or Z will do the trick.

 

BostonCowboy; the liquidglass is a synthetic not a carnuba based wax [carbon is the main component] if you clean the wheels correctly & then seal them with the liquidglass you will only have to maintain them [polish wise] once a year! The teflon wax I found at advance auto, this stuff works great on glass & chrome!

I will be mounting them by Friday. I"ll wax them up before they hit the road. They have a mirror finish now and I want to keep them that way....with as little work as possible.

I'll post a couple of pics after they on.

 

I too have polished aluminum - with no clear coat. I agree with RockPick in that a synthetic like NXT or Zaino - due to the heat - is the way to fly. There are also some sealers on the market especially for polished aluminum. I use a polish, followed by a sealer, followed by Zaino on mine.

I will try sealing them and follow up with some Z or liquid glass.
