Fixing dings w\lanka kit..not easy..help!
Got the Lanka scratch\dent repair kit.
Initial thoughts are "this isn't as easy as it looks". Kudos to those
that can repair a small ding\scratch and make it disapear.
now, I am determined to learn this process of fixing small dings and scratches, "It can't be that hard".
First thing I noticed is that I need to let touch up paint dry more than 24hrs because the "blob eliminator" removed that paint too. Now I have to do it again and wait 48 hours.
Issues I am encountering:
-Wet sanding still left a small faded looking blemish around the ding (on my wifes van).
-The "NEW" paint stands out almost as bad as the ding.
-Even with a very small scratch it seems I might have to do several coats to "build up" the paint so I can smooth it down later with the "blob eliminator"
-Is it neccessary to wet sand very small scuffs\scratches?
-What is the difference in the factory touch up paint and the factory spray paint. They always mention using the touch up paint w\brush NOT the spray. I would think we would have better luck with the spray?
Anyone out there have steps they used and a process that worked for them?
I think there is a lot of us out here who could use this info if someone could assist in this process.
Thanks

Try this sight, and then go to the "repair how to series" button in the upper left hand corner. You will then see a link to touching up scratches. You might have to register for the sight, but it's well worth it with lots of useful information.

Another useful sight is: http://www.autopia.org/
They have a fourm there that has tons of information and some detailers that can help you with almost anything.
Good luck.

caveats
One of the caveats with the langka kits (not the wet sand kit) is that the paint damage needs to be deep enough to hold paint. I've found that for small chips and especially scratches it's very hard to get consistently good results. If you manage to get a nice deep rock chip that you can literally fill with paint, it works OK. If you're trying to fill up abrasions or fine scratches (even if they do get down to the primer or below) it can be really tough. Once you do get it right, let it cure a week then lay down a coat of good wax or Zaino. That helps a lot.
