i've been trying to get my spare back on my '03 fx4 but ford really blew it out their @$$ on this design. its like taking the spare off and on is a big secret. for some reason the spare tire key that comes in the glove box just spins and spins. and the rod they give you is too long. i've checked everything for dirt and blockages, and realized this method of taking a spare on and off is the dumbest idea created. and to believe they paid some guy alot of money to design it. love my truck but am embarrassed of this design.

does anyone have a good method of working the spare tire. cuz its been sitting in my bed for a week.

Not sure how to answer that question. Could be a mechanical problem underneath. I would take it in to the dealer and have them resolve that issue and then show you what the problem was or is.

I think the spare tire system is great on these trucks.

I think 01 is on the money. Take to the dealer. There may be a mechanical issue.

 

Bring it to the dealer, will be warranty unless you are over 36,000.
