Rusty rotors
I have a 2002 Roush f150 that is garage kept and barely sees the rain. It semms that everytime I pull the wheels for cleaning the rotors have become more rusted. I've wire brushed and tried to keep them clean but i seem to be losing the battle. I realize because of what they are made of that they will rust but mine seem extreme. Is there an alternative to steel rotors? Or a product that could help?
Wire brush all the rust off the rotors, then apply a liberal coat of waterproof grease....just kidding...
If the "hub" section of the rotor is rusting, then you could conceivably paint it with caliper paint, but there's nothing that can be done about the rotor surface itself.
Unlike my motorcycle, you cannot get stainless steel rotors for a truck. Stainless is also likely to warp. The biker guys that don't care about looks use iron rotors, which work great but look like hell.
To be honest, if you drive your truck at least once a month, the rotor surface should not be rusting.

Clean the rotors again (preferably off the truck) and paint them. Either caliper paint or high temp engine paint. Sorry, not going to help the friction areas, though. My car has open designed wheels and the rusty rotors really bothered me. So, I painted them about a year ago. Alos, I did the calipers.
Front Wheel
Rear Wheel
Still some rust in the vented area. Maybe I should paint that part too.

I did not paint the webbed (vents) area, but looking at the pictures, I wish I had. I should have removed the rotors when I painted them, but it was about a year ago and cold.
The letters are stickers, and then I got a couple coats fo clearcoat paint on top of the balck paint and the stickers.

Often, I am stuck in traffic going less than 30mph so people can see the rotors and I have rusty ones when that rest of the vehicle looks so pristine. Or, the vehicle is parked at work, store, school, etc.
