Chrome & Plastic Trim Cleaning?
Chrome & Plastic Trim Cleaning?
I am wondering what is the best products to use to polish the chrome and also what is the best stuff to clean and darken up my plastic trim pieces to get the wax marks off, but won't hurt my wax/paint job.
As far as the trim is concerned, I use a product called Vinylex. Comes in a BLUE bottle and they sell it at PepBoys (as well as online in numerous places).
My method is as follows.
I spray some of the vinylex on a terry cloth rag and work it into the trim. You will notice a 'darkening' as it is a protectant like armor all (but much better).
After letting it dry for about 2 hours, I'll go back down and buff off any excess that might be sitting on the surface. Do this step regardless of whether or not you 'see' excess. I say this because, once it rains, you will experience some 'run off' and smear down your truck if you don't do it. Just be careful to keep it off the paint but, if you get it on there while applying, just use a detailer such as Quick Detailer or Final Inspection to rub it off.
