Emblem residue

I am working on swapping my emblems over to the 04 ones and after removing 2 of the 3 originals the residue from those heavy duty backings is not cooperating. Without doing paint damage what can I go get from Autozone etc to safely remove the residue? Hopefully someone who has done this can give me some advice.

Thx, Ken

Have you seen the 04 ones?? They dont take up any more room then the ones I used to have. I completed the switch this morning and now any stoplight gazer can plainly read "XLT 5.4 TRITON" on sides and back of my truck. I like the displacement being listed and the chrome look goes great with my bumpers and ford step bars. I will post pictures for opinions as soon as possible.
