Question Windshield Fogging

Hi everyone...I just bought my 2001 ExtCab Sport about 2 months ago (my first truck), and I love it, but I am concerned about the windsheild fogging up. Every morning when I leave for work it is all fogged up and takes a while for it to clear up. The doors and back windows are fogged up as well, but not as much.

Does this happen to anyone else? Is there some sort of product (like Rain-x) that I can use to stop this from happening.

It can be from two possible reasons that I can think of. One is there moisture inside the truck, like a leak of some sort? If so they would possible cause the window to fog up.

Second, I live in NH as well and when its real humid outside mine tend to fog up at times. Best thing to do is run the defrost or A/C. I have noticed when we have very humid days and I run the A/C and put a crack in the window the windows will tend to fog some. It all has to do with moisture. Running the defrost or A/C dries the air inside the cab thus removing the moisture (fog) on the windows.

It's just bizarre that it happens over night. Although I do notice that it seems worse the day after a humid day and I use the AC...

It more of an annoyance than anything else....

Carpet in the passenger footwell near the firewall isn't damp is it? And as a follow-up; Is there an oily residue left behind on the inside glass?

The reason I'm asking is there are heater-core issues, among other things, that can cause this. My truck doesn't have this fogging problem, but I'm sure you NH guys get more hot humid weather than we do.

The fogging can be a function of running the AC continiously as well.

When you shut the truck down, make sure that the system is set to 'off'.

RAIN-X makes an excellent INSIDE glass treatment. It comes in a black box, and the exterior RAIN-X comes in a yellow box. Don't switch the two. It will take care of your fogging problems.

It's called Anti-Fog...

I tried it and found that it smeared pretty bad... maybe they've changed the forumula though... that was MANY years ago.

That is an EXCELLENT point. More so for us in the humid weather. bosox1007 have you ever noticed that if you run the A/C on a humid day and then switch it to vent before shutting the truck off the air coming out of the vents feels VERY humid, more so then the outside air?

I have noticed that when it is real humid. When I shut the A/C off before shutting off my truck I put cracks in the window so it doesn't get damp inside the truck. Maybe you should try that or like RockPick suggested just turning it to OFF...

The best I can remember, it worked but, it just streaked really bad. Maybe I wasn't using it correctly though... maybe it wasn't dry. *shrugs*

I tried it back in 1994 or 1995 so, it's been a few years.

It is definitely after using the A/C, but I do turn it off when I get home. I'll try leaving the windows open a crack. I amy try that Rain-X Anti Fog...Just wanted to know if I was alone with this.

Thanks guys...

Don't have to worry about me hunting for it...

I thought that the product sucked...

And as for the environmental impacts... *shrugs* ... Oh well... I'm sure the groundwater flows back towards Gator's house so, I don't care.

ROFL!
