rust in seams.....
rust in seams.....
I know this is a common topic as well, as I have written in reply to a few.
Took my truck in to a Ford dealer a few weeks ago. Anyway, they are going to replace both doors, the hood, and the tailgate due to rust in the seems. Now, question is, do I HAVE to accept the truck when/if the paint doesn't match. It is a white 00 F150.
The truck looks BRAND NEW. Fools everyone!!! I know it can be done because I just had my aftermarket bumper painted and it is a perfect match. I also know white is the hardest color to match. What should I do to "arm" myself for the situation before I drop my truck off with them next week?
Has anyone had panels repainted under warranty by a dealer? How long does it take (on average)? Any loaner cars?
Any other info I might be interested in knowing?

I would make it clear, without being nasty, that you won't accept the truck until it looks like it does now minus the rust in the seams. If they know your serious then they might try extra hard to get it right so they don't hav eto do it again. Best of luck.
Like pjf77 stated being civil will get you a lot farther with fewer headaches. NO you do not have to accept your truck if the paint does not match. It is their responsibility to insure the truck is as good or better then when you purchased it. Inform them when you pick up your truck after it has been repainted you want to look at it in the shade (or in their shop) and then in the sun to insure it looks good and it matches.
Thanks alot for the help. I am also going to see if they will not order the molding for the door, and instead, let me use that money toward the purchase of the GT hood scoop. I mentioned getting the scoop painted by them while they were doing the paint work, and they said no problem. We'll see how things go this week.
