Beginner Zaino Question
Beginner Zaino Question
A friend of mine here is going to help me with applying Zaino to my truck sometime soon, but I had a question about it and he is not available all the time to answer questions (works at Ford and has hours that are the opposite of my work hours). I am not very knowledgeable with Zaino and waxing your car/truck, and I was wondering if Zaino waxes your car/truck with the wax protection at the same time as you apply it, or if it is just a polish to make the car/truck look better. Thanks a lot for your help.
Correct me if I'm wrong, and if I am, I am sorry... but didn't you put some Zaino on too? Thanks for the answer... I want to learn as much as I can about it, but Sam is not always available to help with his work.
Zaino is one of many good waxes/polishes. Zaino is a polish, while Meguires is a wax. As to my knowledge they are basically the same as they make the truck look good and protect the paint from the enviroment, I know Zaino has UV protection but I believe most good waxes/polishes have UV protection which is important to keeping the paint in good condition.
Now something important about Zaino is it is NOT like Meguires and other great waxes as far as the product line goes. Zaino does NOT have anything in their line at this time for "preparing" the paint. The paint must be in good condition prior to using Zaino.
RockPick or others could explain better about the products needed for different situations. If your paint is in good condition, no swirl marks etc then Zaino will work fine.
You can go to the Zaino web site www.zainobros.com for some information about the products and they also have tips there etc.
One thing you will want to do when applying Zaino that may be different from other waxes is to apply it in an up and down motion to the sides of your truck. Not in a circular motion, same for the hood etc. The web site above should have much better information about the best methods used to apply it.
The most important thing to do if you have never put Zaino on your truck is to wash it with Dawn dishwashing soap to insure all wax and greases are stripped because if there is any wax or grease Zaino will NOT bond with the paint and your truck will not look as good.
I would also add the first coat looks nice, but it takes three coats and then it really looks good. You can do three coats in one day IF you use the ZFX and I highly recommend it. It may seem a bit pricey but it will last you about 1 ½ bottles of the Zaino polish itself.
I would recommend that you go visit the site I mentioned and read around and then if you have some more questions come back and I as well as well as others can try to answer them.
Welcome to the Zaino family, we are happy to have you brother…

Zaino is not even a traditional polish because it is not abrasive. I think Sal just named it that way to differentiate sealant vs. carnaurba.
Anyway, it give you long lasting protection as well as the classic Z look.

I will really be interested to see if he see's a difference. He may, but I don't think it will be big, at least not from photo's I have seen of his truck...
I'm going to do it tomorrow... no need to photographically document it because I really doubt it'll glow anymore than it already is...
I'll give you all my honest opinion and I'll apply it in accordance with FCC regulations and the instructions that I've been given by several of you.
