Question Wiper Blades Question

I have purchased a used 1998 F150 4x4 and need to replace the wiper blades. I get conflicting information on the blade size. Some part catalogs list the blade length as 22", others as 20". Some show the 97 model as 22" and 98-up as 20".

Does anyone know what the correct size is for a 98 model? I prefer 22" if they present no problems.

Thanks

I use 22" on my 01 so it should not cause any problems. Have you measured the ones you have? They may be 22".

The old ones are 20" but appear small on such a large windshield. I didn't know if 22" would create an interference problem.

Since you have been using 22" without problems, that's what I'll buy. Thanks

What brand of blades are you guys using? I've found the Bosch Micro Edge Excels to be good blades.

I have used Anco wipers on my other vehicles. The cost $3.89 at Wal-Mart which is a good price. I have not tried the Bosch but I know they are close to twice the price. Bosch makes quality products but I don't know if they would last twice as long.

Willing to spend a little money on blades?

GET SOME SILBLADES!!!!!!!!!!

They are guaranteed for 5 years and are AWESOME... they are a tad pricey however; when it comes to a SUPER nice blade that doesn't skip, wipes very nicely, and is guaranteed to perform, I think it was well worth the price.

http://www.silblade.com/

The way I saw it was spend $20 over 5 years (or more from what I'm hearing) on one product, or the same amount of $ on numerous replacements over the same period of time.

It was a simple choice and I'm VERY VERY glad that I did it.

Check them out. Several guys here have them and swear by them... I'm one of them. Well worth the $.

I've never seen them anywhere in stores however; I found mine online for $13 each here:

I put two 22" Silblades on my truck...black on black of course.

I can't say enough good about them.

Thanks RockPick, I think I am going to order some. I am tired of changing mine like every 6 months or so. You mention they are guranteed for 5 years, which sounds great, but how long have you had yours so far?

A gurantee is great but sometimes don't me anything so I am interested in how you and others like the long term performance of say a year or longer...

The reason that they carry a 5 year is because they're constructed out of silicone... not traditional rubber.

I've had mine for about 8 months (or so) now.

Further, I've heard testimonials from folks that have had them 3+ years (and one in Hawaii's heat/sun at that) and they still swear by them.

Rockpick et al,

I've had my Silblades now for a bit longer than RP, since I recommended them to him (as well as some others on the board here).

They are GREAT!!!! I have two friends of mine, one lives in Hawaii and one here on the east coast. So pretty far extremes in weather/temperature etc...

Anyway, they both swear by em! My friend in Hawaii has had his for about 3-1/2 years now, and they are in the hot Hawaiian sun, salt water atmosphere. He tells me that they are just as good as the day he put them on.

My friend here on the east coast (snow, salt, etc) has had his about 2-1/2 years, again, with no probs.

I love mine so far. I actually got my Dad a set for his truck for one of his Father's day gifts. And with all the rain we have been getting here on the east coast, he tells me they are great too!

Get them, they are worth the extra $$$$ paid. If any of you guys don't wanna purchase via the internet, let me know, I will give you a name and number to call!

Jag
