Cleaning lenses

Besides the regular cleaning associated with washing your truck. Does anyone have a particular product that they like to clean/polish the plastic tailights on their trucks. Seems the dark red plastic lenses on my F150 are starting to get a little hazy. I've never polished/waxed them. What do you use? Thanks

Meguiar's makes a good plastic cleaner and polish. I think they are like #10 and #17.

For regular protection I use Plexus.

If they are really bad, then you'll have to do the Novus three step to bring them back.

Here's a link to Meguiars website that shows the products Intel mentioned.

Meguiars Clear Plastic Care Center

Meguiars Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Cleaner

Meguiars Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Detailer

And, I've used the #10 product on a buddy's old 1990 Stang. His headlight lenses were almost yellow. I was bumfuggled at the job that this stuff did... absolutely blown away with the results. It made them look BRAND NEW again. I'm not exaggerating either... it's really damn good stuff!!!!

Meguiars Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Polish

All of the aforementioned products can be purchased at the website or you can use the 'dealer locator' feature on the website. I'll warn you though... unless you're dealing with an auto detail shop (aka: someone who sells top end products from Meguiars), you're not going to find these items in my experiences. Fortunately, I have a guy that carries the ENTIRE LINE of Meguiars products here in Louisville so, maybe you'll have similar luck. I'd call ahead before I made a trip though. Also, don't expect Auto Zone or Pep Boys (or similar) places to carry this stuff. As close as they get is #9, #7, and #26 which are polishes and wax for your paint.

Hope this helps.

Actually, if the lenses aren't too bad, you could try some of the #7 Show Car Glaze. I've used it before, and it works nice. However, I've never used it on lenses that were really hazy.

Thanks for the info guys. The lenses aren't bad, they just look a little hazy compared to the black paint when it's nice and clean.
You know what they say, a little preventive maintenance goes a long way. I'll have to view the meguiar's website and order online. Thanks again. I knew I could count on the 3 of you for some good accurate advice. Tom

01,

I've use "Z" on the headlights and taillights, along with the windows. Works great as long as there isn't any crud on them. The #7 seems to clean them a little, as well as give them I nice look.

No... no one mentioned freaking Zaino...

For one, it's not abrasive and thus, it's not going to be worth a flip on any plastic hazing and, for two, it's not meant to be used for such a task...

Contact everyone's favorite Z guru Sal and ask his opinion... blah blah blah blah blah...

Geesh..
