Forgive me Rockpick, for I have Zainoed

Well folks, I finally broke down and did the whole Zaino program following APT’s instructions almost to the letter. I must admit that I’m a Collonite guy from way back, but as good as Collonite is, it’s not a “user friendly” product in that if you leave it an a few minutes too long, you might as well break out the wood chisel to get it off. (Of course this might explain why it lasts so long.) I must also admit that I’d experimented with Zaino a little bit in the past, but never the full ZFX Flash Cure / multiple coat mating dance. It’s not April Fools Day so you don’t have to worry about RockPick (or anybody else) leading you down a path here either. This was for real.

So how’d it work? Let’s just say the first coat after all of the prep work looked and felt pretty good, but no better than the old Collonite look. I certainly wasn’t as tired as one coat of the old stuff though. The second coat was on and off within 20 minutes. Hmmm, that was pretty painless – and the shine did seem to get even better. I decided to draw the line at coat number three since you can’t buy beer around here until noon on Sundays. Again, that coat was on and off within 20 minutes. I wasn’t sure it added any more shine until I rolled the truck outside into the sunlight. When I did, my eyes just about popped out. Yes, my truck came from Ford with a pretty darn good paint job with absolutely no orange peel, so shine has never been a problem. The shine that Zaino gave it was better than anything I’ve ever tried though. (Yes, I’ve strayed before with Zymol, Liquid Glass, Meguires and a few others.)

So will I stick with Zaino? I look at it this way. The stuff goes on and comes off so easily – and shines so well – that my only question would be around how long it lasts. When it comes to durability, it’s so much easier to use that I wouldn’t mind doing it more often. How often did I do the Collonite thing? I generally wax the truck about every other month and wash it about three times a week. If I have to do the Zaino thing even a bit more often, I think it would be worth it. Consider me a convert.

You have made a very wise decission...

Zaino is an excellent product. As far as how long it last, I would say it outlast just about anything.

I last Zainoed my truck back in Sept. then we had like most people one hell of a winter, I live in New Hampshire, so we got a TON of snow. With that came day after day of SALT on the road.

I could NOT Zaino my truck at all durning winter. I had to use the car wash to wash the truck, so could not even use the Zaino car wash.

Long story short, I went from Sept to March until I could wash the truck with Zaino and actually put a coat of Zaino on it. It had been through at least 25 - 30 car washes to keep it clean. Needless to say it still had Zaino on it.

So that is at least 6 months of NO Zaino, a LOT of car washes, and a LOT of road salt and it still lasted, and shined just about as good as it did when I finished putting the last coat of Zaino on in Sept.

I just don't think you can beat it, and soon RockPick will break down and use it...

Glad you like the results. With Zaino, it usualyl looks its best a couple days after application so by today/tomorrow I bet it looks even better.

What color is your truck and can you take some pictures?

I agree that you should be very impressed with the longevity of Zaino. If you use Z6 which has a tiny bit of sealant in it to wash, and use Z6 afterwards, I expect you to get 5-6 months without any problem. But if you are used to applying once a month or so, go ahead and add a coat since it is so easy. Maybe skip ZFX and just let it take longer to dry.

I'd love to post some pictures of my Oxford White Fx4, but I still haven't figured out how to post pictures up yet. As you suggested though, today it looks great - maybe even better than the day I waxed it. In fact, I think it runs stronger and I think the mileage increased too? Yes, I'm hooked on the look of this stuff! Sorry RockPick. I've really gone over to the dark side now.

Don't worry RockPick is just holding out for some free Zaino. Once he realizes Harley and I are to cheap to buy him some, he will come around and get his own...

Just so no one know's, here you go RockPick:

Mmmmm, Zaino on white - probaby looks like it glows

Pictures on internet forums:

The pictures need to be in digital format, either taken with a digital camera or put on a CD when you get the film developed.

F-150Online has disabled the easy way to get pictures in the message which was to hit the "Attach file:" option you see when you are typing a new message. So, the other way is that you need to get the pictures you have onto the internet somewhere. There are several picture and web hosting sites that you can pay for. Some are free but do not allow direct embedding into a forum message. There is the F150Online photo galleries that you can also use. I have some personal web space with my internet service provider (Comcast) that I keep my pictures and can link right to them.

I would offer to host a few pictures for you, but my home computer is down and it may be a while before I get it back running. I cannot transer files to my web space from work.

APT,

Yes, Zaino does make a white F-150 look great. It almost looks like glowing white silk. (I remember this nighty that my girlfriend had ... never mind.) I do have a digital camera and got some great pictures including a few of the real "Too Stroked" - my boat. Maybe when you get you home PC fixed you can help me get some pics online. Thanks!

Mmmm, silk nighty....

If you get impatient waiting my me to fix my PC, you can try to create an F-150 Online photogallery by clicking here. I have never done it, but I am sure it is rather easy to use. Uploading pictures should be rather easy as well.

I am not sure if my computer has a bad power supply, motherboard, and/or CPU. I'll play a little tonight. If I have to order anything, it won't be until next week before I get it working.

you won't be dissapointed with the durability of the zaino. i haven't done any coats since november to the present, and after a wash and Z6 quick detail it looks like it was just polished
won't be able to do some more zaino until may probably been swamped here with other crap to do! i need a weekend where i can just detail. dawn wash, claybar, rewash, and z5, z5, z2 (all with zfx and z6 afterwards)

and it is addictive...i did 9 coats in a little over 2 months

You think washing three times a week is bad? What I failed to mention was the other things I did last weekend whilst I was doing the Zaino thing. Just to name a few, I polished (with metal polish) my entire tailpipe, waxed my (fake) Rancho Fx4 shocks and repainted (low gloss black Rustoleum) my entire rear axle. Yes, it's that bad.
