Cool Windshield "etched" by liquid ??

My 'Screw was parked in the airport parking garage for the past few days.

I get back today and something has dripped from the fire sprinkler pipes in the garage onto my windshield. I wiped it away and it seems to have "etched" the glass.

I can't feel the line, but if the windshield gets wet, you can see it.

Any suggestions on how to remove this stuff ??

Thanks in advance for any help...

hmmmmm . .. . maybe try rubbing alcohol and then a coat of rainx, ill bet you wont be able to see it anymore, unless its actually a physical etching.

Might just be minerals from the water on your glass. Try some Vinegar.

I would agree with Intel on this one my wife parked here car at job under here store and the same thing has happened to not only here window but the paint as well. Vinager should work for the glass I know it works grat on my boat at the end of the day for removeing all the water spots. I had to clay and clean and apolsih and wax the wifes car for a bit to get the stuff out of the paint needless to say NO more parking under the store. Rubbing alcohol is pretty useles to be honest if you want a good alcahol to remove stuff get some DENATURED you may have to ask the pharmamsicts for it though not something that is on the shelf becasue it is very potent and the druggies use it to make dope.

Denatured is available at Wally World in gallon jugs next to the paint thinners...

But, before I try that... I'd try the vinegar trick. I bet that will work.

Rockpick that is good to know I imagine it is much cheaper than buying it from the pharmacy. And make sure you use regular white vinegar not the other cooking stuff.

Yup... it's there. I actually held a can of it two nights ago while looking at thinner, denatured, and terpantine.

Richard D.... If you're looking for Denatured Alcohol, try the painting supplies section at your local Home Depot or Lowes. I guarantee they'll have it. They'll also have it in a couple different size containers. Good luck.

Funny that you mentioned that I had a trip planned over to Home Depot today in fact to check it out. Thanks for the tip.

Well went to Home Depot and there it was in a gallon metal can for about 9.00 Dam pharmacy has been ripping me off they were getting me to pay 5.00 for a 16oz bottle. Thanks to everyone that pointed out my lack of intelligance for not checking Home Depot to begin with. O yeah and Ace Hardware has it to but it is alot more there about 15.00 a gallon for the Ace brand.

Don't be so hard on yourself. It wasn't a lack of intelligence on your part, it was simply a lack of information. Glad we could help and that you found what you needed.
