Black plastic trim care??

Does anyone have any suggestions as to which product to use on the plastic trim on the mirrors, back window and the rubber under the side windows?? I would like to start using something now on my new 03 SCrew so it remains looking showroom fresh.

FYI I just heard about a product called Mothers Plastic Polish, it's supposed to keep your plastic headlight covers looking like new and restore ones that are yellowed and dull.

I haven't been able to find any locally so I'm getting ready to order some from the Mfgr. You can download an order form from www.mothers.com.

I'll keep you all posted on how well it works when I get some, plan to try it first on the Missus 94 Crown Vickie headlights.

For all those things except the plastic headlight lenses, I recommend 303 Aerospace Protectant. I also like it for the interior trim as it leaves a clean, satin, no gloss look. Kind of expensive, but you can find it at many auto parts stores, as well as camping & RV stores.

yup, either 303, or vinylex are your 2 best bets.
whatever you do though, do NOT get mothers back to black trim detail dressing. it runs like a mo' fo' and streaks like crazy if it barely gets wet :made: used it once and threw the rest out.

also, somebody said meguairs trim detail was great stuff and didn't run. i bought a bottle and when i opened it i thought i was gonna pass out. smells like straight rotten donkey $#!+! no lie! that bottle is still sitting in the basement full. LoL!

You're right... the meguiars does smell like human vomit but, it is a pretty good product. I'm still partial to the Vinylex though.

They all smell pretty bad. I haven't found any that 'appeal' to me. Even vinylex doesn't exactly smell 'fragrant' but, I use it anyways.

The meguiars polish smells good. In fact, I'm sipping a cold glass of it while I'm sitting here at the PC. Tastes really good mixed with a little Wild Turkey Rare Breed and, unlike Zaino, it adds a youthful glow to your complextion as well as adds an extra couple of inches to your... umm... well... you know. Can't get that out of a bottle of Zaiknowsnothing can ya?

303 works well but it is expensive. Many boat shops sell it. I know West Marine down here has it in 16oz. bottles as well as 1 gallong jugs. Think it is like $60 or $70 for a gallon. I cannot remember.

PRO's Bumper Renewer works well on exterior plastic and it lasts a few washes and will hide wax stains on plastic pieces. You can order from from prowax.com or email them to find your closest distributor. I can't remember the price of it though but you don't use a lot so one quart would last you awhile.

I agree that "mothers back to black trim detail dressing" SUCKS big time. I did like Harley, used it once and tossed it in the camp fire, burns GREAT...

I also agree that ZAINO smells great...

When weather permits, GOD ONLY KNOWS when that is, I am going to try some of that 303. I have heard Intel talk about it and others as well and really sounds like what I want. Something for the dash board that isn't greasy and not shinny.

303 Protectant is rathe expensive, but Campingworld has the best prices and cheap shipping. I think $1 for the 32oz bottle. I paid $55/gal plus shipping with other products from CMA. It was on sale a while back.

For exterior trim, I really like Black Jack - Black Again. Good durability, and doesn't run at the first sign of rain! Don't know if I would want to use it on rubber though?

I wonder if you can just put some Bullfrog SPF-40 on your plastic.?. Will that work just as well?

Thanks for all the info, folks. I almost bought some of the 303 back when I had my motorhome.

When I had the motorhome I used Protectall on everything, including the black plastic and rubber and it seemed to work well. I thought about getting some Protectall again to use on the F-150, WalMart has it for around $8.00 for a small spray bottle.

I use Meguiars Vinyl and Rubber Cleaner Conditioner on the truck as well as my wakeboard boat and it works great the best way to use it on the trim and window rubber is to spray it on a terry cloth towel and apply it that way to watery to spray on and it will leave a greasy film on the paint but won't hurt the paint, a wet rag followed by a dry rag cleans it right up. For my boat upholstry i just spray it on and wipe in with a terry cloth towel.
