ford manual on cd

wondering if anyone has any experience using the Ford Service Manual on CD. Is it user friendly and as easy to reference as the printed manuals they sell for $80-90? I see them on ebay for around $10. Thanx..steve

For $10 can you really go wrong?
I have one and it has very detailed information. It's the same information that is in the Ford paper manual from Helm that runs $180.

The downside is my 19" monitor doesn't fit on the fender like a paper manual does.

I have to 2002 truck manual on cd. It is great to use.

If anyone wants a copy I will make one for 6 bucks. You can paypal it to me. This covers the cd and shipping. A lot easier than going through Ebay.

It covers at ford / merc / lic trucks and SUV's

Let me know if anyone want's one or has a question.

is it Copyrighted?

I suspect that the CD has been copyrighted?

You might want to check that.

I have one

I have one that I bought off of eBay. Yes, you can print from it.

Personally, I think the software is crap. But it's true that doctors make the worst patients, then maybe you should take my comments with a grain of salt. I'm a web developer. Which either means I know what I'm talking about or I'm picky. Probably both. I've been building computer systems for 24 years and this is some of the worst that I have seen. Poorly indexed, horribly organized.

It is an old Windows 3.1 (can you remember back that far?) application. Remember the old install programs that couldn't read past 8 characters? This is one of those. Save your money and go buy a Haynes manual. They are great and mine has already saved me $500 or more.

if not...

If it's not copyrighted, then can we get it compressed and put onto this site as a download? Any thoughts? It may be prohibitively large to do so.

Is the Ford Electronic manual much different then the regular paper manuals supplied with the truck? I have never read about the electronic manual so I do not know.

I can't say about the copywrited issue.

I guess then it would be better not to post it, but somehow I doubt that the people selling them on ebay are legit

The acrobat versions at www.fleet.ford.com are the exact same thing as the owners manual that is in the glove box when you get the truck.

The service manual is generally not supplied with the truck, unless you got the dealer to up them as part of the purchase price ( don't see that one happening, you know how much they love for you to use the service department=$$ ).

The paper Ford brand service manuals and the Ford brand CD are the exact same thing ( got the paper EVTM, and the CD which contains the EVTM sections ). The page numbers line up 100%.
As for the other makes, I have never seen a paper copy nor a CD version to know if they are 100% the same thing.

Steve

shop manuals on cd

wondering if anyone has any experience using the Ford Service Manual on CD. Is it user friendly and as easy to reference as the printed manuals

yea, i been using them since they came out, sometime around 1993-94. they are not as good as paper manuals on somethings but better on others. the problem is that ford has changed the way shop manual are laid out so many times, not that it is a windows 3.1 application as stated by the compurter guy, that system, (3.1) has been gone now for a few years. ford switched to a DVD and a world format shop manual about mid 2002 and i still have a difficult time finding the information that i know is there. the greatest advantage is the wealth of information on 1 DVD (about 6 years coverage) plus tsb's, calibration part numbers, recalls, engine emission diagnosis manual, and wiring diagrams. all this on 1 DVD is equivlent to about 60 thick shop manuals. note: factory ford manuals (cd) start at 1992 model year
