Only one windshield wiper works

The other day both wipers were doing their thing when the drivers side wiper stopped and dropped to the bottom of the windshield as if I turned it off. The passenger side kept going. Mind you I didn't turn them off for this to happen. Now, I can manually move the driver side wiper when the car is on or off. The passenger side wiper is in it's normal position. What happened?

maybe tie a shoelace to the end of the wiper arm and just keep your window cracked and pull on the string to make it work?

Pop the cover off of the wiper where it pivots. There is a bolt under it. This happened to my 98'. The bolt just loosened up over time.

exactly! i saw them do that on WRC once on speedvision. got a string and tied one end out the drivers window to the wiper arm to make it go up, adn the other end of the string out the passenger window to pull on it and make it go down, and the passenger pulled the string to make the wipers work

I popped off the cover and tightened up the nut and all is well. Now what am I going to do with all this string?
