XL manual window inoperative
Hi All,
I have an XL that has manual window cranks. Its a 1998 and I live in Maine and have discovered that the F150 windows freeze shut when its really cold.
The drivers side is now inoperative for the first few inches. If you can pull the window down slightly, the crank will work the rest of the way to the bottom.
I suspect I have stripped some teeth somewhere. I have not pulled the door panel yet to investigate so I am not framiliar with how this works.
My question is: Is there any source for repair parts other than the Dealer? I have searched online but have been unsucessful so far.
Has anyone else run into this problem? How did you correct?
Thanks!

Thanks for the responses Guys,
I pulled the door trim panel off and was a bit surprised. The doors are nearly a solid piece of metal beneath the trim panels. I expected some pretty substantial access holes.
How in heck would I remove and replace the regulator? There isnt a single access any bigger than a couple fingers wide!
I'm not sure how the internals of the regulator works but I saw the teeth on the window side and they appear to be OK. Anyone know what the crank side has for works? Teeth, gear, something else?
Any additional advise?
Has anyone had this done via the dealer? Seems like it might be a pretty pricey ordeal.
Thanks!
