Driving up to Banff in Feb/Mar: Any special Truck prep recommendations?

Hello!!! I am planning a ski trip this winter that will include a few weeks in BC and Alberta from North Carolina. I have a 2018 F150 4x4 Lariat. I have good snow tires and chains for all for corners. I am looking for recommendations for truck prep to help ensure that I don't have any issues up in the snow and cold with the truck. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Arthur

The usual:
  • Check age of battery. Anything greater than 5 years should be replaced in the artic.
  • Clean/check battery posts.
  • Check all fluids.
  • Check wheel end play (loose inner/outers, UCAs/LCAs, linkages, bearings, etc), including alignment (drive straight/steering wheel canted off).
  • Have good winter wipers and top up on proper deicing washer fluid.
  • Check and make sure 4x4 high and low works as requested.
  • Check brake wear, calipers, hoses, and feel (any shuddering/vibration).
Other than chains, I'd also include some food/water, extra tank of gas w/funnel, a couple blankets, extra pair of warm clothes, flares, warning triangle set, fire extinguisher, etc. May not be the truck, but it may be the roads that get you locked in.

Have fun and stay safe out there!

thank you for this! Should be quite an adventure. Did something similar in the states last winter. Was a lot of fun.
Best,
Arthur
