US to Canada Shipping Cost

Hi I ordered some rims and tires mounted from the states only to hear that the shipping costs will be over $900. This seems a little outrageous, but I could get them shipped to the border and one day drive over and pick them up. But the shipping cost still would be high.

So I was wondering where in Canada is there a Mickey Thompson dealer that I could pick up some rims. Thanks alot.

$900?

I had brand new wheels with rubber shipped from Florida to Ontario via UPS for right around $200.

Soounds like you just getting price gouged on the shipping, seems to be a trend. Ask them just which shipping they are using, ask them to use the cheapest. Just check ebay. There are tons of people selling headlights for less than $100 then they say shipping is $85. You might want to check out http://www.f150sale.com/ that is the aftermarket dept of the Ford dealer in Orangeville, ON.

just had two rims and hoosier slicks shipped from San Diego to Washington State for $145.32 via ups. It would have been about 300 more to Canada with the border tax's and brokerage.
Have to and pick them up Monday. The tracking says it was delivered on Thursday to my sisters but they are not there so there is some kind of foul up.

Brokerage on mine were right around $60. The rest was taxes and duties, which you have to pay coming back when you pick them up yourself anyway, unles you install them there, but then you need to bring your old rims and tires back anyway.

So, all I paid extra was the 60 bux brokerage, which was well worth it to have them shipped to my door. I would have had to pay for gas, tolls and the hassle of the border and loading 4 wheels and tires into a car (didn't have a truck at the time), so it was 60 dollars well spent.

All I do is ship to a UPS store that will accept things and pick them up. Call first, track it and call when in. They charge $5 a box or package. Even if you declare them, it will save on brokerage fees and alot of cases it might be free shipping within the US. It's easy for me because I can basically see the UPS store I go to.

I've done that a number of times for certain items.

Buying tires and wheels is becoming more and more affordable in Canada though, geez, why wouldn't it especially when our money was more than theirs.
