Question Purchasing an ESP

Ok no wise cracks!

I think the ESP's provide a peace of mind. I have one on my 150 and about to buy one for the Expedition.

My question is, that I know that they are negotiable and I'm wondering what other members have paid for the extended coverage.

I was taken to the cleaners and paid $995 for the coverage on the 150 and don't want to go there again.

Please help.

'00 Expedition XLT, Silver w/Dark graphite interior, 5.4L, Stull Billet Grill and some other stuff. All in all she'll stay stock. Ok, maybe a Flowmaster 50 series soon.

I have seen the plans go between $600 and $1000. I believe cost is based on the type of coverage you need. As I remember, for powertrain coverage to 75k was about $800. I will try to verify that.

B.T.W. Fordman, my 3/36 will expire next week due to mileage. I hope I don't have any problems, but I really did need the peace of mind. And yes, I do have a repair order open on it as we speak.

Piston slap, leaking rear window, pinging, and warped rotors. No other complaints! I love my F-150!

FoMoCo sent me a brochure that listed three different levels of protection. I think the cheapest was about $1100. They also said hurry to avoid the $100 surcharge of going over 12,000 miles(too late for me).

I opted to go with my insurance company (GEICO). Their extended coverage plan is an extra $38 on my premimum every six months.

38 X 2 times per year X 5 years = $380.00

If I want out I just drop it and stop paying the $38.

Why is this so cheap you say?
The deductable is a whopping $500 per occurrence.
This is only for those that want
'catostrophic' peace of mind.

Crash1,

Thanks in advance. The Expedition only has ~5k on it so I think FoMoCo will wave the $100 surcharge.

So you think the I could get the 5/75k for $800?

Raoul, we had a 3rd party warranty on the Pathfinder we traded in. I hate the 3rd party warranty. Too many stipulations for service.

Keep on Truckin'!

I myself always buy the warranty. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. I bought my 97 f150 with 25k on it and shopped around for the warranty. I wanted full coverage and 7yr 100k. I found prices from 935 up to 2000. I found out that ford wants significantly more mony and they are more picky about how many miles a used vehicle has on it. I bought my truck from a chevrolet dealership and they originally quoted me about $300 higher, after I shopped around and told them I had found it for $950, they dropped it to $935 and I added it on to the bank loan. Was it worth it? H$@l
yes! The warranty company has paid for over $2500 worth of repairs so far and I still have 30k to go. Repairs include rebuilding of trans ,replacing water pump, and a very expensive antifreze leak. However on my wife's camry I really havent used it that much.

If I had a rig laid up as much as that, I'd get rid of it and drive something else, like say, A MULE!

I called a veterinarian about getting an ESP on a mule.

The prices were outrageous!

Equine comprehensive & collision is terrible, too. I'm thinking of going with a jumping mule, next time. Better mile per feed (mpf) and I can use a smaller shovel to clean up. I'm having a hard time getting my jack to hold still so I can get him tagged and inspected. Anybody have any suggestions on a good saddle that won't blister my butt?

Unhappy

Loser1, my first post was legit, then Ford man entered the Wise Crack Zone and drug me in with him.

(If I get reported to Steve one more time their going to take my PC)

(Also, I cancelled that GEICO plan based on your recomendation)

(Now my truck is making a funny noise...)

For all that's interested I'll try to keep it breif.

When I bought my '99 F150 I paid $1095 for the "Extra Care" ESP. It covers 5yr/75k mi.
Bottom line I got "BENT OVER"!

I just purchased the "Premium Care" ESP for the Expedition for $875. It covers much more.

So if anyones thinking about an ESP now you know you can get the "Premium Care" for $875.
