Talking Bedliner Pics

I applied my own liner using Herculiner, and am very pleased with the job. Like others have said, take your time, do the job right and you can have that professionally installed look that the dealers claim that we can't get.
If my pics don't post, then I'll try to post somewhere on the board as a step by step pictorial.

Unfortunately I had the pics dev. and put on Konica discs. They are not .jpg format, but are .kqp, and I don't know how to export them to a .jpg file in order to post. Gimme some time and I'll figure it out.
Thanks for showing interest.

Talking Pics aare here!!

I removed the tail gate for ease of work on the bed and gate. See where I masked off aroung the edges? This made for clean match up after the tailgate was replaced and closed.

The primer on the bed is repair of the wear from the plastic liner. The primer on the ledge at the gate is prep after I had to wire brush rust and cement that the prvious owner had left me.

Use the green scratch pads in the Herculiner kit to scuff the paint to a dull finish, you do not want any shine, as the liner will not adhere well to non scuffed areas. I taped under my rails, removed the grommets at the head of the bed, and took off the tie-downs. Rolled up masking tape works well in protecting screw holes.

After the scuffing is complete, use Zylene to clean the area of dust and oils. Be sure ventilation is good, a windy day asures this. It was mid 90s and my cap was still on, so this part took longer because I had to take periods of rest for fresh air. Wear rubber gloves also.

This is after the first coat. The kit comes with rollers, and a brush for tight places. I used the roller and seemed to apply a little to thin and picked up the non-skid, so I opted to use the 2" brush, a bunch of work!

After the second coat, it all started to come together. I like the way the trough, the bottom lip at the tail gate, turned out.

Thumbs up Finally!!!

Finished... the tailgate was taken apart to make clean work. Scribe the panel and rail guard before taking them off, then tape along the scribe mark before applying the liner.
In the background is the old liner, I donated it to my neighbor.

Re: Finally!!!

None of those pics work.

Umm... Were you trying to post pics that are stored on your computer? You know you have to load them to the internet or attach them to your post?

Beautiful work bud, how much $ did it cost? How much does it cost for a spray-on line-x bedliner or whatever? I thought they were only like $200 bucks anyways.

I got line-x quotes between $500-650.
