From what I have researched, the bakflip g2 seems to offer the best of every world. I just got mine and will be putting it on tomorrow. It is a fold-able hard top, doesn't weight alot and is lockable. It looks really clean installed to since it fits flush with the bed and doesn't sit on top of it like all of the other hardtop ones. I was able to get mine for 580 shipped. Let me know if you have any questions.

PS, if you look up the bakflip, make sure you look up G2. They had some problems with the first gen ones and redid the whole things. So far, i haven't heard anything negative about the g2's.

ridinonair, I never heard of a foldable hard top, thats sounds cool. I hope you post pics one its on. I have an 07 KR and was haveing the same debate as everyone else. Here in Myrtle Beach, SC where I live it seems most trucks have the hard top by ARE. That was the way I was leaning to.

I also had the spray in Rhino Liner put on. Hopefully it will last but it looks real good right now.

I just recently found this forum and it has become my second religion checking it often. Thanks to my fellow F150 folks for all the info.

Jerry

I say go with a ARE brand hard cover my dad had one on his truck an 04. I helped him take it off and put back on a couple times. It wasn't all that bad to take off or put back on.

I installed it last week and it has been raining like crazy. Not a drip of water in the bed. I took about 15-20 mins to install by myself. It only weights about 35 lbs, so it can def. be a one man job. I would highly recommend this cover to anyone. Since it folds up, you can still haul any and everything you could before installing it and it locks when you lock your tailgate.

As far as the 580 (shipped) brand new, I'll pm you with the details! It took about 5 days to get it delivered.

I couldn't figure out how to pm so, here it is anyways. Go to ebay, search for the cover. The buy it now price is 698, but you can give your "best offer" on it. They will accept anything over 580 automatically. I put 575 and they sent me a counter offer at 600. I put in 580 and paid it and it was here in 5 days. hope this helps everyone.

They also have videos on their auction with the installation or you can go to www.bakflip.com.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

I just bought a soft top for my truck. it was a Lund Genesis Tri Fold....I paid 370 shipping and all. It has a light weight aluminum frame and folds up 3 times. For what I paid I am pretty happy with it. It doesn't lock or anything, but you can't really take it off if you lock the tailgate. ANd it has rained like 10 or fifteen inches this month I swear, and it stays dry on the inside. The only thing I noticed so far is the last cross bar of the frame arches a little higher over the bed than the other two, but it doesn't really bother me. If you're just looking for something to cover your bed and keep it dry, this cover is a winner.

I just purchased the aluminum version G2 bakflip cover from this ebay store for $800. They are very open to dealing. My problem was the shipping, it got lost for a bit before I was able to track it down.

I bought a leftover 08 XLT and was thinking of a Line X, priced them all out and decided to put skidless drop in with a Lund Tonneau cover. For the prce of just the Line x, I got both. I put t think coat of wax on the bed before installing the Penda. Just my choice. Yeah yeah yeah, read all of the postings of pros and cons and it was a final cost decision.

Line-X and a BakFlip is the perfect combo. The Line-X holds up extremely well. The BakFlip has hard cover security and soft cover access. I can remove it in 10 minutes by myself. And if you remember to lock your tailgate, no one is opening it.

I am going with a Leer 800 (I pick it up tomorrow) and a custom built wood liner covered with carpet for a trunk look. This will be the second one I have done and plans are in the works for another one for my big bro's truck.

Why not get a cover that rolls/unrolls like a garage door? Anyone else seen those?
