Question Ford Bed Liner

Is the folding bed liner from Ford any good? I'm debating whether to purchase from Ford or from aftermarket. I'm concerned about it being sufficiently water proof around the bed rails.

I think you mean the folding bed cover, right?

I believe the only hard folding cover Ford has is the one made by Bak Industries (called Bakflip). You'll probably save a bundle by not buying it from the Ford dealer. But, you should check prices. The best bang for your buck Bakflip is the Fibermax model.

Some Bakflip owners report dry beds, other have a bit of leaking, so it's a toss-up. If you need absolute waterproof, you could look into a solid rigid cover like Undercover.

The bed cover that is being sold by Ford is the BakFlip HD model. The best price I can find it so far is at Autoanything for $755 shipped (w/ free shipping using one of their online codes, welcome15.)

I'm undecided on the HD model or the F1 model. Unfortunately my new FX4 will be spending most of its life outside the garage due to space. Anyone know which model BakFlip will weather better?

No contest, the F1 with the FRP top panels beats the all aluminum HD. The FRP panels won't dent like aluminum and won't fade like black powdercoated aluminum.

HD is 5/8" thick, F1 is 5/8" thick, Fibermax (FRP top panel) is 1/2" thick. All three have a 2 year warranty. F1 and HD are rated at 500 lbs, Fibermax is rated at 400 pounds. The Fibermax cost less than the F1 and HD.

You plan on loading 400 or 500 pounds on it? I'm guessing you probably will never put anything that heavy on it. So, Fibermax seems like it's the best bang for you buck.
