Extang

Hi I'm new to the site and need some input. I purchased an Extang Trifecta cover. I have noticed air bubbles on the side of the cover. I called Extang and spoke to a Mike Camron to see if this was a factory defect. After leaving another message a service rep John called me but he didn't have any answers for me. I asked to speak to a manager and sure enough Mr Camron became available. He informed me that the air bubbles were due to weather and they would replace it but I would have to forfeit my right to return the new one if it exhibits the same issue. Has anyone experience this. The Web site where I purchased it said they would stand behind their sale but I haven't received anything in writing yet from them. Any opinions on this matter will be appreciated

Thanks

How old is the cover? I have the same one. Mine is roughly 5 years old and has pin holes in it. I have not seen it bubble like that before mine did not do that just the pin holes. If its a new cover I would say wait till it becomes worse because they do not last up till extangs 10 year warrenty. Also I hope you didn't put any type of protectant on it unless extang specially approved it because this will void your warrenty.

Extang's customer service is absolutely top notch. I deal with them regularly at my shop in Ann Arbor, MI, where they are based at. My shop maintains their company trucks, as well as the personal vehicles of many of their employees.

Haven't met a better bunch of people to deal with, professionally and personally than the crew from Extang.

Their products are the only tonneaus I'll put on my truck.

Well I asked for feedback good or bad but you are only telling me what you think of them. I am really looking for feedback on my situation. Do you think the cover is acceptable, would it be acceptable for one of your customers? and does your cover buckle up like that?

I've got an Extang Encore on my truck, a hard cover.

I had an Extang Express previously, and it didn't do that.

I've also never seen that on a Trifecta.

I'd just talk with their customer service department and see what can be done.

If you don't have any success, shoot me an email (jdc48160@gmail.com), and I'll talk to one of the guys I know at Extang and see what he says, and see what can be done for you.

jdc48160 Thanks for the offer to help and your honesty referring that this is not a normal occurrence with the trifecter cover.

This is the update on my situation. I spoke with Mandi from Truckxl.com, they felt this was an issue that needs to be addressed. Their response was that they sold it to me, and they would stand behind what they sell. Being that extang believe this is a weather issue and would not guarantee that a replacement would not do the same thing. Truckxl asked me if it would be ok to upgrade me to the signature series and they would absorb the price difference, if that would be exceptable. This all took a couple of calls to Mandi and when she called me back the problem was solved.

We as consumers that buy on the internet cant rely enough on customer service and truckxl is top notch. On a positive note about extang Mandi called her contact at extang and they sent the cover out before receiviing the old one which was a nice plus, so I could keep my goodies dry.

Thanks everyone that responded

Good to hear you got it handled with the place that sold you the cover.

Your initial post, and what you said someone at Extang told you didn't sound like anything they'd say. I know people at all levels of that company, and they take care of their customers like very few companies I've ever dealt with. And that isn't just me talking nice about a client at work. A good friend of mine bought a cover thru them, and had a major issue with it, and they took care of it without issue.

I won't deal with any other company for tonneau covers on my truck.

Maybe I caught him on the wrong day. They were willing to exchange it but I would have to give up my right to send the new one back. I liked truckxl fix better and if I didn't want the upgrade they said the would give me a refund if the new one was like that. I'm just happy its done and their signature model doesn't have the bubbles and likes great.

Ace85 which one did you get. I'm surprised its a type of plastic why would it get pin holes. Did you call them yet.

Did you use anything like ArmorAll on it? Extang says not to use ArmorAll on their covers. I only used their stuff, Tonno Tonic on my soft cover I had from them. ArmorAll has an adverse effect on the material they make their covers out of.

The Extang Express and Revolution have lifetime frame and tarp warranties, and it appears the rest of their soft covers have a 10 year tarp warranty.

Would be worth giving them a call.

What I don't get, concerning tonneau covers, is that no matter the length of your bed, mine is 5'6" short bed, the price is the same as if I had an 8' bed !
What gives. Also, really diggin' the Penda Venture cover, but hard to fined on the net !
